Mon, 24 March 2003 10:20 Well when you put a new diff in go for a heavier oil. vmx 80 is too thin andnot designed for high load situations like differentials. Personally i would go with lsx 90 as it is a real nice oil that can be used in both lsd's and stock diffs. or there is also a 85/140w oil that is more for racing diffs but will be good also. There should be no need to touch the pinion nut as this only gets undone on a diff rebuild or to change the pinion seal. If you do it up too tight it will put too much preload on the pinion bearings and cause premature failure. I'd suggest instead of buying 2nd hand centres all the time save about $400 and get your diff rebuilt and set up correctly by a diff specialist... look in the yellow pages!
