Drive them both and see which one you like. I can't really agree with the sentiments that the MR2 has no room in the front. I'm 6 foot tall and weight ~135KG and this is one of the best fitting sporty cars I have been able to find it has much more room than a skyline or silvia.
The MR2 is by far the more involving and enjoyable drive especially in standard form. If you want cheap mods then it gets a bit complicated, you can do a 4AGZE conversion reasonably cheaply but this doesn't give the kind of potential that a 1JZ conversion would for future cheap performance.
THis one is really a matter of taste. For me it's all about the mid engine balance and handling of the MR2. I know I won't be buying another front engine car for a long time, which pisses me off since the car I have always wanted and is now affordable for me and R32 GTR is front engine. Oh well I guess I'll just have to get that 4AGZE and a NEVO pulley and play with the handling bliss that is an MR2.
