Interior plastic and vinyl painting? Can it be done? Help?

Dose anyone know how to change the colour of interior plastic and vinyls?
Can you paint dash pads and door linings and center consoles etc?
What sort of preperation do you have to do and what sort of paints do you use to paint them? The paint has to remain flexible on vinyls etc so they don't crack and flake
I am looking at funky-ing up the interior of my car with some new colours and patterns, patterns the expense of re-trimming all my door linings etc.
Anyone done anything like this and have info on what to do, where to get things and how to do it????
