Hi,
I've only ever seen a dozen or so around the roads in Melbourne and I've owned 2 of them (still got 1). I've the 1G-GTE version - goes OK in manual form with a bit more boost and an exhaust. However, I've been in an auto 7M-GTE version and the extra torque REALLY helps.
Best thing about the 7M versions is the huge amount of info available for upping the power reliably. The aut gearboxes are readily toughened up too.
You can still get the Z20 Soarers in as they get through under the 15 year rule. That makes them even cheaper to get now. I've seen some advertised through Prestige Motorsport
http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/
and the recent ones have been under $9,000 complied. Search their backlist and you'll see prices. They will bring in under order too.
There is also Soarer sales and service - next to Toyospares in Bayswater, although I'm not sure if they are still doing them. They used to comply them under the old import program.
Check unique cars - or more likely autosupermarket nowadays - and you'll often see a few for sale.
Good luck
If you want any further help or a ride, let me know.
