the way i understand it is the only 2 reasons for having the abv is to bleed off excess boost with the factory settings(7-8 psi), and provide a route for air to bypass the sc when it is not spinning,( as written by David Kucharczyk. http://mr2.com/TEXT/SuperChargerInfo.html ), when running more than standard we mod it to stay shut until it see's a vacum, as the sc has a clutch, it doesnt need to vent at all when at idle. so as some of the guy's in the states and england, i have removed mine and blocked the holes. the air passes through the sc instead of being bypassed ( i have not noticed any difference in performance or throttle responce from doing this) another mod i have tryed/done (as a few of the guy's from the states) is taking the valve that the three vent lines (from the sc) that purges vented air into the intake system off, and putting one tube/pipe from the front vent to the back vent ( they say they have noticed and measured boost lose from these vents). i suppose anything is worth a try. more boost, more boost (it just keeps saying it in my head)
