NEED car wireing diagram/ Celica w/ 18r-gue Mon, 02 June 2003 21:23 Go to next message
I have all the computer wireing and pinouts, but I need a diagram of how they wire into the car. I have an RA-29 that I'm converting to an 18r-geu and I would like more info please. Any example or explanations would be great. Any Celica w/ 18r-geu will do. Thanks....T

The best thing would be is to open up the computer and find out what the pinouts are. I have seen a pinout diagram floating around here and it is not even close to what mine is. this is mine.

this diagram is only a rough guide. don't think it has to look like this because it is not 100% accurate, but gives you the general idea of how it all works.

I have use 3 relays. one main one to give power to the ECU, Injectors, AFM and other relays. The other 2 are for the fuel pump. The first is to give the fuel pump power by the earth that comes from the AFM. But this means if the AFM is opening and shutting at start-up the pump will be turning on and off so I haave used a second relay to give the first relay and earth when you are turning the starter motor.

apart from the wiring to the sensors. I have used the ignition wire from the key assembly to turn the power on at the main relay and the starter wire from the key for the 2nd fuel relay.

You will also need the starter signal to be connected to the "STA" pinout that also goes to your cold start injector curcuit.

And the last thing is to connect the "IG" pinout to the "-ve" sin of your coil. Or just connect this to the tacho wire. this give the ECU the timing for the injector pulse.

apart form that you can just connect all the earths together and ground them somewhere on the intake manifold. Have I missed anything??
If you want to cheat with the wiring just find a toyota that has the early 22re in it and get the complete wiring loom. all the connectors are the same size and colour and make it a hell of a lot easier and neater.

Yes, I have all this stuff, thanks. What I'm looking for is a car wireing diagram from a car that came with a 18r-geu stock. ie; early 80's celica. Also an RA-28 or RA-29. w/ a 18r-geu in it and the exact wireing done in the conversion. Bluewire's car, or an RA-35's manual text wireing diagramwould be perfect. Thanks again everyone. Later....T

I would have thought the above diagram explains everything you need to know! There's only a few wires in the EFI loom which are joined to the chassis loom...

Yes, It seems like enough, but I am missing the 9 pin plug and the color coding seems to be different. I would love to have the car diagrams, It would help alot. T

I am not sure why you want the car diagram. there are only a few points where the EFI wiring needs to interact with the car wiring itself.

1. the starter motor is the same as the 18r-c so the wiring is the same.
2. The alternator is as well. just wiring it up the same way.

3. you need a 12 volt feed for the ecu and relays.

4. you need a signal from your coil's -ve for injector pulse.

5.you need a start signal for the cold start injector circuit and a signal for the relays for when the ignition is turned on. You can get these from the wiring that comes out from the key barrel. there is a plug that comes out from the steering column that contains these. there is a main plug for all and then after that there is a smaller one that contains just the ones for starting, just use a test lamp and turn the key to find which one you need.
that is all you need.
