xt130 struts? Fri, 19 December 2003 10:32 Go to next message
i'm looking to do the front brake upgrade as detailed elsewhere on this site for my TA23. problem is that XT130's are pretty rare over here in New Zealand. there are however a lot of ST141's around so i'm wondering if anyone knows if these used the same front struts?????

cheers Matt

and yes, i did try google but i couldn't even find a photo of an ST141. i am however computer illiterate so feel free to prove me wrong

Matt

I am not sure about the rt141 struts - my gut feel suggests that you could but dont go by that. I do know that you can use the struts off the hatchback corona - I think its the rt132.

No, unfortunately the ST141 struts have different bolt spacing into the bottom of the strut, so they wont bolt up to the steering arms. Als the caliper bolt spacing is 100mm as opposed to 90mm on the xt130.
Do a search for ra28 brake upgrade, the other Joel did quite alot of research into using ST141 struts into a celica.

Use the RT132 series Corona 5 door struts 1979 - 1980 IIRC. I drove thru NZ in Oct this year and saw a few of these models on the road. Along with some fabulous looking Levin's and Caldina's with the good engines installed.
Cheers,
Mitch.

embarassing but what do the rt132's look like???? can anybody post me a photo to str_ng_r@hotmail.com, i did a quick search but these don't seem to be the sort of car that most people do up therefore no photo's. normally i just check rego labels (for the year)but the local pick-a-parts scrape them off

cheers
Matt
