Hmm...there seems to be alot of different ideas on what date this law was established about window tinting.
I've heard 90 and i've also heard 92....now i've heard 94. So the date is blurry but the yes it is tru that cars made b4 a certain date have no limit on tinting cause the law came out on 199X for the limit on tinting.
What model is your car ??

Actually it was 90 and 92 i heard not 92 and 94
the tinting is done in percentages i think ??
But if your car was made b4 the law who cares whats legal or not. If a cop hassled u just say i bought the car like that so it must have been done b4 the law.
But find out when the law was made first obviously.

legally 70% of light must be able to get through.
my old man just had his car done and we specified to the tint professor that we want it at the legal limit, but it's not dark enough. the tint dude put extra on the rear window too, and that's still not dark enough either.
my advice is to ask around, and find someone who'll do a bit of extra tint, and slip him $50 on top of normal price

Here in California only the driver and passenger side windows and windshield(of course) can't be tinted. You are able to tint all other windows as dark as you want.

hi there.
i had my old mx73cressida done in 20% tint, but they would not warrant the tint, and they would not put a little sticker on the window.
so basically they will do dark tint (they did a good job), but after that they dont want to know you...for obivious reasons.

If u got money u can do whatever u want for starters.
And 2ndly the whole point of setting these rules is for driver visibility.....the driver doesnt need to see through those back windows where the passengers are
Its the same as a bus theres not limit for tinting on the windows behind the driver just for his
Its all on Soarers link above

correct ben but not your front windshield your front windshield has to be 75 % minimum no matter what age your car is
but everything else is fine i think
but it wouldnt be a good idea to get 0% as it would piss u off on a cloudy early morning if your hungover or something

ooh 51k got his at auburn ill probably go there aswell, 15% with waranty and all they even put a sticker on the back windscreen. It looks good to me and from the inside u can still see quite well. I guess theres lots of different tinting film and they all have different properties so just look around so u find something that ud be happy with.

you know how you can get glasses wich go tinted when in the sunlight? well is it possible to get anything like that for your car? as that way u will still have good visability at night and in low light conditions but keep your car cool in summer and protect your eyes in those bright conditions

Something to remember with tint percentages if they get stricter on policing tints is that factory glass is already tinted, particularly on later models. Adding what may be 35% tint will actually let less light through when fitted.
I removed all the tinting from my seca a few weeks ago. It was all bubbled on a couple of windows when I bought the car and looked crap. Much better now... until summer

I might have a look at some cars with different percentages of tinting done to see what I like the look of... Either that or i might just settle for 10 - 15%... Is it the same price though as legal stuff???

For any of the SA guy's. IT's very different here. Much tighter laws than any other state. I don't know if TransportSA has anything on the web (never have any info on the web lazy ba%^tard's) So give them a call. Aparently even the tinting place's don't know the legal tinting levels. Stupid storey from the local Messenger.

Singapore has similar laws to California actually with just the font driver, front pass, and windshield not being able to be tinted at all, and for the rest anything goes.. it's actually quite funny to look at because the trend over there is a reflective silver tint and looks very.. you know..

Yeh, cops have it made here in SA, was out driving with the windows down, was pulled over at a booze bus. They couldn't defect me for anything... then he asked me to wind my front windows up, well he got me for 38% tint and said that the legal limit in sa is 70% or above.... What makes this worse is that it was a major defect, i had to book a full inspection and had to pull the tint off i think 35% is the limit on the rest of the windows.

i've heard 2 legalities about wheel size: 1. it can be 1" larger then the biggest standard wheel size bought out on that model of car or 2. 2" bigger then what it says on the placard.

I don't think the width of the wheel is the prob, but the effect it has on widening the track. Max increase 1 inch. Insurance companies seem to just go on width though. Plus 1 (1 inch increase diameter) is still legal, afaik.
