Gteched ST162!! Tue, 14 September 2004 04:28 Go to next message
Hey,
Work lent me a Gtech pro,
0-60 mph was on the first run 9.23 seconds and then did another of 8.92 seconds and then another of 8.25 seconds...
1986 st162 celica sx!
All this from advanced timing at 16 degrees and k&n filter...
Was a straight ground too...

I'll have to try 1/4 tonight...

WOOOT!!!

How do these gtech things work? Are they actually reliable? I've heard a lot of cynicism aimed at them...

bah 4AGE's faster Laughing

I did 8.2seconds. side by side with a Vtec B16 Civic VTi-R

This was measured with an apexi rsm. Which hooks upto your speedo/rpm.

Time starts soon as the speedo moves. Tyres calculation/weight is also taken into account.

alittle more accurate then the plugin ciggerete lighter Gtechs

$350AUD in most stores

it displays speedo, rpm, has g-sensor addon (shows acceleration braking force in Axis) also onboard dyno function.

can control shiftlight or turn on any accessories.
eg. I had mine turn on a buzzer from dse. So near redline just like an rx7 it would buzz Very Happy

it can also do any times based on speedo and tyre rolling. from 0-300KMS you can have any length and speed inbetween once it hits that distance it stops.

cheaper and better then gtechs. plus its actually usefull (if you've done a conversion and your tacho doesnt work.. you can get the rpm/speed readout along with tyre + speedo correction)

really?

how big are your wheels? i've got 18" when factory are 14/15" but driving at 70kms in a 70kms zone. all my mates say im only doing 60kms and have to fall back to wait for me

it depends on tyre profile doesn it?

ive got 30 heights and they apparently doe -4/5% off

did a google for tyre calculator

Tire Size Comparison

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
195/55-15 4.2in 11.7in 23.4in 73.7in 860 0.0%
225/30-18 2.7in 11.7in 23.3in 73.2in 865 -0.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Handy link for calculating speedo variances with different rims and tyre sizes.
