Model:Toyota Sprinter AE86 Aus Spec

King springs, Lows goin in this weekend

nice car, very clean. I hope you dont mind but ive been wanting to chop a 86 for ages, and this is a really good photo. Sorry about the colour, my outline wasnt done very good so when i painted it you could still see a little red so i just made it pink, I think it still looks pretty cool but.

You know my opinion on painting and colour-coding things, but I reckon the bumpers and grille look damn good. Look forward to seeing it this weekend.
But where is the photo of the fulsik Prelude alternator and matching Mugen power sticker?
And can I propose a name change to "BlingAE86"??

Hey paul,
Sorry i didn't catch you on drift weekend.
Your car is similar to Chooney's 86.
What's that metal lining in your guards?
Also, what's the next mod despite the name your name.
Keep it up man.

Yeh, i hadnt seen chooneys car before i painted my bumpers,
fortunately he still has a black grille and a cut out front bumper so its a little different.
The metal lining the guards is a standard chrome strip (well i think its standard)
The next mod will probably be a T-18 rear end,
although i may be stealin another 4ac from somewhere soon, not really a mod but with mine sittin on 300,000kms its gettin pretty tired

Stockae86 i love your car man its so straight and clean.
I heard that the red you have on it (besides teh bumper) was the original color and hasnt had a respray, is this true?
Either way keep your grill red and i'll keep mine black so we can be told apart
Regards to you needing a 4ac, i hopefully will be rippin my 4ac out soon for a bigport conversion so we'll organise something to get the engine to you if u want it.
Keep up the good work

Well I know part of the car has been resprayed at some stage,
not sure which half, but when u look closely it is a different color from the front to behind the doors. Either way it looks good for its age i think.
In regards to the engine, good to hear u are doin a conversion, will let u know wot im doin when i work it out myself

OK kids, with 8 months since the last update not alot has really happened.
Been through 3 alternators since then, maybe i should get one actually reconditioned instead of buying 2nd hand ones for $20
It now has a fixed back saas race seat sitting on home made non adjustable SHTOCKspec seat mounts.
I also have a Twincam16 steering wheel kindly donated by Jezza (rallystanza).
This will soon be replaced by a suede 300mm momo wheel with about 30mm dish that i got for a steal, i also have a 75mm spacer awaiting the purchase of a boss kit.
If anyone has an 86 boss kit they want to sell PM me please.
I have also removed the gold pinstriping because i wasnt a big fan.
I outgrew my Kings Lows and thought it was time to upgrade the suspension.
So I did a deal with Pedders and secured some suspension in return for doing a little bit of work for them.
The car went into R&D at Pedders for a day and came home with:
Front:
Springs: 2565a Hyuandi Coupe 96 - Rear lowered (sports ryder)
Shocks: Custom wet leg setup with Pedders A settings, stock strut tube length and spring seat retained
Rear:
Springs: 7159a Ford Escort 78 2LITRE P/VAN - Front Spring Standard
Shocks: gsr9034 Holden HK-HG UTE & P/VAN V8 - Rear Shock (Gas Sports Ryder)
The part numbers are there for anyone who wants the same stuff, it is all off the shelf items apart from the front shocks of course.
I am very happy with the setup, it is about 60mm lower than standard and is very stiff, a good compromise between a daily driver and something that will be used as a track car every now and then. I will be doing RCA's, swaybars, bushes etc to further improve the handling when i have the money.
Also sitting in my shed is a drum to drum T-18 rear end, a 4.1 centre, corona rear disc brake setup, R32 master cylinder.
These will be fitted to the car within the next month or so.
I will do another update then, until then heres some pics of how she looks these days. It looks a bit funny cos of the difference in profiles of the front to rear tires.
Cheers

Well kiddies, Since the last update i have:
a 100mm boss kit which is currently in the post as well as a momo suede steering wheel with a bit of dish
a 4.1 outta a Ta22 in a t-18 diff housing with corona disc brakes, has taken a bit of effort with relocating shock mounts and getting custom brake lines for it but its now ready to go in.

Well the R32 master cylinder and complete rear end is in now.
I have had a leaking master cylinder for a while (about 6 months) and have just been topping it up with fluid.
Well, i bolted the new master up and pumped the pedal and had to pump for about 5 mins to get all the fluid out of the booster, i reckon there was about 1 litre in there
But the master is a direct bolt up. I threw away the normal junction thingy inside the engine bay and just bent the lines to the new master, no cutting or joins required, was very suprised.
With standard brakes on the front and the corona on the back it has a fair bit of rear bias which makes it fun to set up for a corner with. I Will be upgrading the fronts to RX7 calipers soon and will get a bias valve if its still bad i guess.
So fun fun fun basically.
Cheers

not entirely sure of model, but im pretty sure its rt141.
They are off the solid rear end model, not irs, sorry, i dont know my coronas
had to relocate the shock mount so the shock would clear the caliper. my guesstimations of where to relocate it to were pretty good, has good clearance to body and caliper so im happy.

The datsun is pretty modified.
L18 with polished and ported head, bigger valves, balanced bottom end etc
twin 45 side draught webers on datrally manifold
extractors and 2 1/4 inch exhaust
roll cage, race seat, harnesses, hydraulic handbrake
VL turbo calipers front, r31 calipers rear
Z gearbox with single piece tailshaft and 4.4 R200 LSD
15" MX73 wheels in white with yoko A035's
adjustable lower control arms, upgraded pedders shocks and springs
theres probably more.
Its puttin out around 80rwkw, quick enough to propel me to the lead of the 1600-2000cc modified class in the vic autox championship so far this year, am 2 pts up at the moment.
There is a round at melton this weekend actually.
Good luck with your project, hope to see you out there, wot u building?

I have no idea if its turbo or non turbo, but i do know its from the non abs model that for certain.
And yes, it does bolt straight up to the stock booster,
seriously only took me half an hour to fit including brake lines.
I just put a wanted ad up on Skylines Aus forum and had 3 offers so they arent that hard to come by.
Well, with the car running quite nice i have decided to do some more cosmetic mods. I have a JDM rear bumper (no number plate lights on bumper) and a JDM rear wing which were picked up for a very good price.
I also have a JDM copy front lip on its way from MFX as well.
So my bumpers and spare hatch are being prepped up to be painted in the next few weeks.
Also got some chrome SV21 door handles about to be fitted as my stock ones are in need of attention.

They are both working pretty well, they just get a little tight when you return them fully but its only in the last little bit.
Had to straighten the rod that we had already tig'd to get them to work properly.

Well, it always happens to ricers doesnt it, last night on the way out to the drift practice at calder it used 2Litres of water and was running quite hot.
Trailered it home coz it seemed like a good idea.
Decided i would check to see what had happened this morn and it looks like a blown head gasket by the look of the cam cover
Oh well, looks like i will have to put in one of my 3 spare 4ac's or even a decent one that devolutio has offered me, but it will make it to the meet in 2 weeks time, doubt i will have time to prep and paint my bumpers and fit my new stuff now but oh well.

60$ for a VRS set, 50$ for machining and ~6hrs of labour going slow will get it back up and running again, if the bottom end is in good nick id look at that before trashing the motor

The old engine had was so worn out I didnt bother doing a head gasket on it, I just pulled it out and put in another 4ac that i got from devolutio (Thanx Mate).
Done the cam timing and valve clearances on the new donk so it should be ok. Decided to get rid of the standard fan and put a thermo fan from a AE92 (thanx to Inertia) on it, should give me 1 or 2 hp
The new donk is in the bay, just gotta hook everything up and sort out the thermo fan brackets and wiring. Should be all running tommorow
