Hey guys, as soon as my car is finally tuned, I will hit both Wakefield and Eastern creek, before I sell her. Want to see what benchmark times to aim for. List here (If you want) your car, mods, track, and best lap times! My first time out to wakefield, I predict myself to get a 1:18.
Car: Altezza
Engine: 1JZGTE, FMIC, Haltech, Stock boost, 3" Exhaust
Suspension: TRD (Yellow) fron and rear sways, TRD Bushing, JIC front strut brace, Cusco rear strut brace and TEIN Flex coilovers (With EDFC).
Tyres:Standard, any reccomendations? Azenis RT115?

Car: 1973 KE25 Corolla
Engine: 4AGTE, FMIC, Microtech, 2.5" Exhaust
Suspension: Bilstein shock absorbers (front and rear), height adjustable coil-overs (front) with Eibach springs, leaf rear end, new bushings throughout, standard front swaybar, no rear swaybar.
Tyres: Front = Dunlop FM901 (205/45R16) Rear = Falken Azenis RT215 (215/45R16)
Brakes: Front = ST162 calipers, Peugeot rotors (258mm). Rear = commodore drums.
Wakefield: (handtimed by several different people) laps were high 1:15 to low 1:16.
WSID: 12.8 seconds for the quarter with same setup as above.
Comments: RT215's worked well, FM901's struggled a bit when hot. Will return to the track with RT215's all round, I would expect this to remove a lot of the understeer and may improve lap times slightly.
I hope to improve on both these times early in the new year

I am just back from the mid week calder day , coleman was struggling to break the minute in the gt3 there . Took him ages because the track is covered in crap . Got the 2litre sports sedan down to 1.03 running in . Yeah Adam is shit hot {hotbits} driver and i think he will really show a few people up big time this year RA45 .

LOL...remember when the Group A VL Touring cars were doing 1:05 at Calder?
Calder 1:12, Sandown 1:33 and I did a 2:10 at PI but that was an opening lap and the clutch blew mid way through the lap.
Did a 77 on Winton short track in a stock XF Falcon.
Hope to get down to 1:10 Calder, maybe 1:31 at Sandown, flat 2:00 at PI and hopefully mid 1:40s Winton long track.
Need to sort out my fucking clutch.

Winton Time was from memory on R series Tyres(Azenis), the other 2 were on road tyres... I'm pretty sure that time was correct tho, I asked another guy who was there on the day doing similar times in a MX5 aftermarket turbo. Keep in mind I don't have HUGE grunt(I only run 6-7 pound, and I have mainly set the car up for midrange) the car is still in development engine wise, but the suspension and brakes are pretty damn close to spot on. The tighter the track the better suited to the 165, so PI doesn't see its attributes really shown.
BTW, Caler was a typo, 1.07.53 to be exact
I've also done a 1.12 in my old stock MA70 at Calder.. and that was with top end of only 180kph.
BTW, I do have a few years of driving cars quick, and have worked instructing, including with Adam Macrow.

hey guys. i havent raced on a track before. but i want to try it, just to see wat I am capable of, and also what my car is capable of on a circuit. if someone could fill me in on how i go about it that would be good. i live less than a km away from sandown, so i'd luv to give my car a go there. how do i find out when track days are being held there? do i need a special licence? i dont plan to take it up seriously, just i'd like to give it a go a few times a year.
any pointers would be great.
thanks.
eric.

Last Tuesday at Wakefield.
My best time was 1:22:95.
Gave up at lunchtime due to some utoward noises coming for the front suspension & also discovering the inside edges of my front tyres were pretty much bald.
After seeing TurboRA28's time a few posts up, I'm stoked.
<50kW at the wheels & only 4 seconds slower. Shows what good brakes & suspension setup can do on a tight track.

Ok, first time out to wakefield today, other than lossing ALL wheel nuts on the freeway home it was a good day!
Car: Altezza
Engine: 1JZGTE, FMIC, Haltech, Stock boost, 3" Exhaust
Suspension: TRD (Yellow) fron and rear sways, TRD Bushing, JIC front strut brace, Cusco rear strut brace and TEIN Flex coilovers (With EDFC).
Tyres: 205/55/16
Time: 1:16:42
I was quite impressed with my first time out, and with some better rubber, I should dip into the 14's!
