I own a KE35 that was raced by other people in IP for more than 10 years. Haven't actually made it on the track myself, it's still in the process of being freshened up.
I also spend a lot of time working on Leanne Ferrier's RX7 and know a lot of the other guys in the field.

Thats cool mate. Do you ever go watch the races? Also whats the go with entree's to the race. Do you have to register at the beginning of the season so you can race all races or could you just register for one?(I know it sounds stupid my mate is thinking about entering a race)
Anyone else?
Cheers

I go to a lot of the races all over the country when I can find time. They are running at Wakefield this weekend but I can't make it.
You don't have to register at the beginning of the season or anything like that. But you can't just turn up in a road car and race. The car has to be log booked as an IP car and the driver has to hold the relevant CAMS license which itself involves close to $1000 worth of driving course and an observed license test.

Yeah i knew about the cams licence and that. The next one at oran park i'll prbly go to. Its on the 11th and 12th of April. Can't wait should be pretty good.
I'd be pretty scared of crashing my car i wouldn't wanna go near anyone.
Yeah i thought i might enter next year once my car is fully built. I'll prbly go to a few races this year to check them out.
Its pretty cool how all the old school cars race with a mix of relatively new cars.

Its only a 2S licence, which really isnt that much. But yes the car has to be logbooked as an IPRA car. You should enter in a supersprint.

I thought it worked out to be $800 once you do all required by CAMS for the first year , and $500ish just for renewal ? Also i think you still require to do a CAMS test at a track for the first time of getting the C3 . It's still run down at Calder here mid week .

Yes, i do realise it is a C3, i was lead astray by the wonderful people at the CAMS office.
However looking at the CAMS website seems to indicate that they have changed all the licencing categories this year. No idea what it comes in under now. Also i was under the impression that you only had to do a yearly one if you were old .
Reading the site its only every 24months now. But 12 monthly if over 40.
Seems it is now either a Provisional Circuit or National Circuit replacing C3 and C4.

Hey guys. There is a round coming up on the 9th-10th April at Oran Park.
I think i will be heading out there. It'll be quite interesting to see the old school cars going at it.

if you dont have alot of money to develope a car buy one as its cheaper. if you want to go well with a low budget the only car to get is an rx7. being the dumb f... i am i want to show the boys what engineering and skill can do so im going a fwd turbo rolla, but its taken loads of money and the best engineer in the country to get it to a competitive level. IP racing is going to get alot harder as its one of the cheapest full bodied car classes and loads of people are making the change to it. i love my toyotas but if you want to have a coast effective way and half a chance go an rx7 at the moment.

Well for me it has been $27 for a manual (Im an official), $70 medical, $55 PIARC membership (changing to either IPRASA or SCCSA soon) and then ill pay the CAMS licencing fee. Which now im considering putting off until i get the sprinter back on the road. The OLT fees are $129 here.

sorry that it's a bit OT - but is anyone running (or trying to run) an import like a MZ10? either as a NA3 litre or turbo 2 litre?
or are all low-volume imports excluded (i only ask as i vaguely recall reading about sylvia's et al being allowed entry into IPRA competition - despite being a low volume import)
cheer and tia,
charles.

It'd be too heavy to be competitive, but it'd look good

yes you can race an uncomplied car! you wont be competitive in one unless you spend the money. what ever turbo car you pick in the overs you have to use a restictor unless you run standard everything but there is no point as you will run way down the back with standard setup. to do a competitive car from scratch your looking from 25k-35k.for the money and the way the rules are at the moment go an rx7 if you want to be competitive or a mirage or similar car there plenty to choose from in unders.

i will hopefully be at the 20th july ipransw round (think it's at wakefield, not sure though) with a mate who is about to run his datsun for the first time in about 4 years. we took it to a test day last thursday at wakefield and it went fairly well (== engine didn't explode, which was a surprise given the weird sr20 valvetrain issues he's had)

I think Saturdays are free and Sundays is
$15-$20... There is a lot of racing out there. Not just Impro. prod racing.
Starts about 9am the first race maybe. But it goes all day.
