18r Intermitent Backfire

About once every 3 weeks or so i'll be driving along at 60 or 70k/h and next thing i get a big bang from the exhaust. It sounds like a gunshot next to your head and scares the shit out of you evertime .
The timing is good the ignitionis all new eg: points, cap, etc...
Anyone elce had this problem?

the exhaust flange gasket is no longer (rip) on my third one they last about 5 mins going to change manifold back to old one which will fix prob (no more sounding ike a truck)...
