Installing an LSD centre

Hey all,
I'm not too crash hot on how to work with diffs, so i'm after a bit of help. Now, i'm a very DIY person - probably too much?
The LSD centre i have doesn't have the ring gear on it however my current open diff does (duh). Can I just swap it over to the new centre?
I have a torque wrench too, so I guess i'm safe in that regard. Is there anything I need to watch out for?
Thanks in advance, because i'm a diff newbie!

There is some pretty specific tolerances you have to get correct here. I'd get a diff shop to do it for ya!
Just take them the centre and lsd and gears you got and have them make it complete and adjust the clearences etc.

you have been steered correctly. This is a job for either diff shop OR the competent DIY'er.

Got a pro to do it, even better if its a friend or aquaintence, and ask him to show u while he's doin it so u can start learning. But getting hands on experience first go....... especially if its a thousand dollar aftermarket centre, may not be wise...

What about a good condition $50 centre bought from a mate?
As I understand it, the ring gear needs to be installed with shims to make even contact with the gears. Hmm I wonder what the charge is to get the ring gear swapped over. I have good bearings etc. it's just the ring gear thats bothering me.

I paid $170 to have my LSD hemi centre fitted into my original open centre housing.
That included new carrier bearings though. Without the bearings I think it was under $100.

Chris,
Get it done professionally. I only wish it was that simple. When I get mine done, it will done professionally. It is somewhat of a black art.
Cheers

Alright alright
The service manuals make it look easy enough - I guess they just want to taunt me some more.
Can I at least take the centre out myself?

The diff centre that is currently in there so I can take it and the LSD centre to a diff shop and get them to swap the gears and bolts over as needed.

Yep, in that case you can.
However
do you have live axle or IRS? Because I've only done live axle.
If It's live axle,I have the instructions for you.

LOL that's not good!
Actually both times I dropped the diff out of my Supras I found some of the bolts were very loose... I guess it's all the vibration in that area. Shouldn't happen again thanks to Mr Loctite.
