i'd persoanly take the M3 out of them... and then spend a little on updating the suspension..
the hondas are FWD, the altezza will feel slow, the spoontah.. well, need i say more?
if you are looking to brings something back (and it doesn't matter on age of car at all if you live there with car for 12+ months.. i'm doing same thing ) then either get something you really really like, or something that is not available in Oz and will retain it's value (integras = no)
how about Beemer 850 and then turbo the sucker (just replae all electronics first and dump all the heavy shit out)

yeah i'm not that much of a rex fan myself but they would be a good track car, my bro was in london over chrissie bought a couple of mags back and the rex's seem to be pretty cheap for a second hand one.
Other cars could be something like an Audi s4 ie mid 90's ones they are like 25K in aus, 169kw awd.
Um what else, old school BMW m5 would be pretty cheap, these had a 3.5l six and around 200kw.
Clio sport, vast aray of hot hatches the poms love em.

Thanks all
for the comments
Over here they dont like WRX much the EVO is the King of the road over here.
mmmm renault r5 tarbo,Audi s4 ie mid 90's ,old school BMW m5,
Clio sport are very interesting!!! Im on the search now!!!
My eye is on the M3 and Sprinter due to I know more about them
The M3 is about $30,000+ in Australia depend if you can find one and £5,000+ and there are heaps over here LHD and RHD.
I have test drove one and I could say it is very similar to a AE86--light weight REVs hard and rear wheel drive, Love to drift!!!!hahaha
and it only £5K over here you get a 4ac sprinter back at home for equal money $5K Aus money. Dont convert the pound if your earning the pound!!!!!

hey mate, i dont think any of us have driven any of these cars, save for the sprinter so no one can really give you an informed opinion other than what theyve read out of road n track.
looks like ur just gonna hafta educate all of us when you get back...but if you are going to drive somewhere as exclusive as the nurburgring, drive something more exclusive than a toyota

Gday Wei, sounds like you're going to have a ball over there.
I'd say the M3 all the way, i was already thinking that before i read your list, but was thinking E36. But yeah, E30 M3, and if you're not sure i'll buy it off you when you bring it back!
Other than that, the renault 5 turbo is a ripper, and would be unique over here... or the Audi Quattro, the '83-4 or so, coupe, 5cyl turbo 4wd, the original rally inspired tarmac tearer (along with a couple of lancias of course). Lancia Delta Integrale... although even less reliable than the renault.
Ah the battle between the french and italians for the reliability wooden spoon...

But have you thought about the Escort RS Cosworth? I think that since your over there, enjoy cars that we don't get the luxury of enjoying over here.

Lotus Elise.
Surely you can pick up an early one for around 10K.
If you could get a M3 Evo then that would be the go, but they are rare.

Hi,
My mate has a DC2 Type R and I've driven an E30 M3 (smiling for weeks after) they're one of my favourite cars, and they handle phenomenally well, I prefer it over the Integra for sure, but I also don't like FF cars generally so it may seem biased, but I'm not going on that, but from both driving experiences.
Easy choice for me:
If you've got the money - get the Altezza - awesome cars.
Otherwise M3 no doubt - I might choose this over the Altezza personally, only because you'll have money to spend on it and you could make it into a very quick track car.

Cor Blimey!
Just hire an Audi RS4 wagon, strap a fake dog into the boot, then thrash the hell out of it around the ring.
God that would be nuts... those things hammer, fastest wagon in the world.
You would not see another wagon out there at the ring!!

Id avoid the renault 5, nasty habit of bursting hoses and overheating, also getting very hard to find one thats not been messed around by some 18year old kid.
He would be better off checking out something like Kit Cars magazine and buying a Caterham, Westfield style car, the kit car scene is HUGE in England! The latest breed of kit cars a seriously lightweight, strong and powerfull! Alot of them have Suzuki Hayabusa or Yamaha R1 engines in them and the cars wet weight is around the 400-450KG mark. Performance is explosive to say the least! Ive been on a track day in the UK where in 3 laps, in a R1 powered car with a driver and me on board we took a 911 GT3, Skyline R33GTR and a Elise.

Mate anything and everything drives around the ring, from coaches to hire cars as it is counted as a toll road. RS4 would be awesome though the rs6 is faster than it now and maybe even the E55 amg supercharged wagon (atleast in a straight line anyway).
My tip would be the RS6 would pip the RS4 round the ring its heavier but it cops a fair chunk more power, ie limited edition got 350kw 4.2L twin turbo V8 regular model was 321kw.

Sonds like we are in a similar boat.
I recently move to spain and want to make the trip up to the Nurburgring for a bit of fun. Unfortunately the car choice here is very ordinary. I am currently looking at a ST185 Group A. About the only thing worth buying here. I need to get a local liscence though before I can own a car hereand as there is no agreement between Australia and Spain, I am going for my learners permit sometime in the next few weeks.
When you do make the trip across, let me know and I will meet you in france for the trip across.
Oh and car wise, I would love to get into the kit car scene that the UK has, although the thought of driving a car of somewhat questionable build quality at high speed (and it is a very fast track) scares me a little.
Hope your stay in the UK is enjoyable and if you are ever in Spain give me a yell.
Anthony

v8, 420 odd bhp. 4wd. NA(no turbos this time). the car revs to 8250RPM!!!! and in neutral it hit fuel cut off b4 the rev gauge gets to 7000. its supposed to be one of the best engines ever made.

Although to drive a 4wd V8 in the UK you would need to own an oil refinery. I think petrol is the equivalent of about AUD$2.50 per liter.
I am actually thinking of converting a car to run on cheap red wine, I can get that for 0.39euros a liter (about 60 aussy cents)
