can unleaded be used with a 4ac sprinter

just wanting to know , if i can run my 4ac sprinter on unleaded , or do i have to use the additive , i know this is a lame question to ask , but need car running properly to get registered ,

yea coz my car is pingin , and blowing a bit of black smoke , so just unleaded in it , and retard the timing , and it'll go away

unless you have an engine that's different to the one supposed to be in the sprinter i.e. a version of the 4A-C from somewhere else i dun see why it should be pinging.
you can run it with up to 15 degrees timing at just 91 octane. If it pings at high revs the engine is tired.
Just put 91 and make sure it's tuned correctly i.e. 5 degrees at 900 RPM (850 if it's not dying is fine), and set the fuel mixture on the carbie. check the carbie is good i.e. flow and float, change stem seals if you have to and it should be good.
My mate had to clean out his carbie coz the petrol in it b4 was shocking, clogged up a fair bit of the fuel inlet.

I was in the same situation as you before. I placed normal unleaded in the 4ac although it didnt run too well. I suggest you use premium petrol with the valve saver/leaded substitute. But I never knew the engine had hardened seals.
