Caught up with an old high school friend. got his new car a black 2 door Civic vti based honduh. 17's dark tint, skirts looked neat. He asked if i wanted to run. I Said yeah alright.. took him for a spin in my car first hand and said that mines rough and needs a tune up. He took me for a spin in his felt vtec for the first time.. very similar to tvis! (i think its only a d16y engine; he didnt open the hood so it could have been a vti-r b16a?) anyway were heading home from a cruise we approach the lights slowly. i didn't really launch it probably normal 2.5K start off 1st, 2nd, 3rd was only about 5cm's behind him from his front bonnet then i backed off as i didn't want to trash my baby more or get my friend in trouble as his on red p (auto, driving a manual he already got fined $70 for the transmission)
He told me not bad. We'll go again when your car tuned!

Damm how noisy is it when you have 2 1.6L 4 Cyl's going at it!

I demolished one of these in my old gti. It was a really long race through brighton (sydney)....the corolla just kept pulling away and he was really pusing his, because he had a gf to impress lol

my mate has like a 2000 vti-r coupe civic and in the 86 its pretty close, I usually beat him to 100 cos of launch, I get him off the line though being RWD and him not being the greatest launcher
he just has pod filter and I can't hear anything above my exhaust then he hits vtec and that thing raws with induction noise, so noisy

if it is the earlier Vti... the rolla should have no prob stayin' in front
my brother-in-law has a '96 Vti coupe... and even my excel had no probs with it
but... i think, if it vti-r, then i reckon it would have the rolla above 60km/h
got a buddy with a mildly modded vti-r and it goes hard once it hits 6000rpm

my brother has a jdm b16a in his 92 civic sedan. he used to haul ass in it (lots of wins/losses) but now it can only manage 16.92 on the 1/4 with a gtech timer...

long time since this post been used but hey,
my friend has a 93 civic vti,
black mags all that shit
i got my ae82 100kw extractors exhaust etc
we lined up at a set of lights
in second i pulled away( bastard got a good start )
and then i got to fourth
he braked and turned off into a side street and havent heard from him since
he just forked out 13 grand for it
and i payed 5200 for my baby
gotta hate sore losers

HE BEAT ME I raced a White CRX with 94/95 Vtec He installed the week b4 Vs My AE82 1986 Corolla sedan wif exaust, mags, mod intake.HeHe. Shell servo GWH Blacktown, Red light. Neck n Neck 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th. I looked at speedo (190). He waves cya, & dropes his car into 4th at 190kph (DICKHEAD). I stoped 100m up da road 2 watch his gearbox go past me at about 70kph.
