far out, after owning my ke30 for almost 2 years now i realised ive never posted in the ke dedicated thread! i should be shot... any way my ke is near finished after several attempts and blowing up engines and diffs and all other sorts of madness! she now has a warm 4k with; big cam, 1100 head ported and shaved, electric dizzy, re jetted twin 3k-b carbies, 4 into 1 extractors and a 2.5" exhaust. also got 5spd gear box and a locker. interior i have 2 stratos racing seats, new carpets, "fooly sic" mp3 and speakers. she's slammed at the front (chopped super low king springs) and therefore has a bit of neg camber. got new rubber for the front wheels (215/50/13) and stockies on the back! makes for good times! i love my rolla

it will bolt in but be aware the head sits 10mm higher as the 4K block is taller... may not be an issue, but may be enough to casue exhaust fitting issues in the tunnel..

Does this mean 3K exhaust and 4K exhaust manifolds are slightly different. Would an exhaust manifold from a KE55 solve the clearance issue (if there is one).
It is interesting to find the differences in engines that everyone says are "the same".

3K and 4K manifolds bolt up.... even 7K intake manifold bolts up to K head... i made me extractors to fit with K intake on 3K head, and the 7K intake also fit with them....
i am not sure if they are different, it may just be the engine pipe.... but since KE30 had 3K and KE55 had 4K, it would have been easier to just slightly extend the engine pipe on the 55's...
then again, they have so much space in engine bay, maybe it didn't matter?
made a difference in the tight engine bay/tunnel of KE10 tho.

i have harsh fuel problems in SUS020.
bombed out of the comp pretty bad on the wkend.
was able to cut mad helis but due to the fuel problem while spining aroudn so quick it wasnt able to produce enough smoke to match the shear power of all the V8s.
so its pretty much back to the drawing board for me.
also need boosted brakes, taller differ gears, bigger sump for more oil capacity.

but on a brighter note it loox like SUS020 maybe getin 302 windsor converison early next year. if all goes to plan.
but for now ill get it abit more street suitable and go eat me some commos.

how odd i own 4 rollas and not one has a 4k.
not even any of my spare engines are 4k's
i got 3K, 5K, 3T n 250. also spare 3K n 5K
but when i had mild 4k in brown ke20 i rekon i could take dat thing 2 6500rpm with stok valve srings. and was still pulling even up dat high.
but 5000rpm in 2nd was enuf to cut heli's till the cows came home.
damn shouldnt have sold that motor with the car.

I'll second that
I was actually TRYING to kill the 4k in my old KE55 so I could do a 4age conv. I used to rev its ring out all the time. Never serviced it, just topped up the oil with the old oil out of my 4wd . It started to get a bit noisy and I thought, you beauty it's nearly dead. Turned out it was just the water pump and the engine was still going strong .
I never had a tacho in it either so I don't know how hard it got reved.

i just remembered
before i put my worked 4k in the brown ke20 it hada a complete stock 4k with a 32/36 weber on it.
used to smoke up somefin shicking even better when i was pissed.
i managed to empty the entire cooling system through the overflow line in a single burnout. but it still did not die.
left a stinker skid though.
*note to self never do another skid that large on my own street*
are so many fun storys with my corollas.
way back when i had my second ke20 a mustard 2spd 3k thingy.
i bought it for 300 bux and damn did that thing smoke up.
i could plant it up against walls n curbs in it wood smoke all day.
i bought it like dat ona friday nite

and it looked like this the following wkend

funi story behind how that came about also. but well save that for another day.

well... power from around 3500-4000, and peak power around?? 7500-8000.
regularly revved to 7500 (almost all the time), and less often to 8000 or a bit over...
missed gearchanges of my friends driving sounded much higher tho, more like 9000+, which i imagine was not good for the old thing...
to rev high you need balanced pistons and rods (the cranks are good from factory), porting, dual springs (or at least stronger ones), and a cam that has more duration.
