Yeah i've got a CB radio already, just gotta stock up on batteries. So what's the general concensus with the shared rooms? does anyone need another person to make up the 3? if so, I'm up for it.
Cheers

/posted the fuel stop info! + major stop.
canberra guys, basically check the first post but you can meet us at either marulan (detour backwards for you guys) or gundagai sth. check first post for address info etc. both are petrol stops.
get back to me on where you will be meeting the convoy.
25days to go!
Also I have finally calculated the winding road attack detour... I almost decided against it due to it being too crazy but ive mapped a route (unfortunately there is no 98ron petrol on it) but the roads should be worth the detour. It will seem very long as its near 350km before we get back onto the freeway but the difference between the route and the freeway is 167km or so. Which whereis.com.au calculated takes 9hours for some reason, however i calulated youd have to travel at 40km/h for that to occur so I think we can do it in just under 4 (80km/h avg). It ends up being a 2hr detour compared to the 2hr freeway route.. definately worth it.

Dude why would you sleep in your car when for $23 you can stay in one of the motel rooms with 2 other Sprinter lads, $ 69 a room for a night, divided by 3, it's pretty damn cheap, and a hellavu lot more comfortable than sleeping in a Sprinter.

i don't know anyone either poh86, but from what i've heard a vast majority of 86 owners are pretty friendly!... then there's some that just plain aint.... but hey! if you didn't wanna socialise and meet other 86 owners then why would you come on this trip? just to snob everyone? lol, should be fine.
Winding road attack sounds good by the way. I was hoping to have my gze by then but it aint gonna happen. I'm gonna have the slowest, 4ac 86 with a fried clutch, dents everywhere and faded paint! haha, bring it on.

haha you sound just like Mikey. Last year his gze wasnt ready so he borrowed a 4ac hachi. It was funny on the freeway we'd all get ahead of him leading up to hills and he'd fang it downhills to get speed up to get up the hills to keep up. Youd look left and see this 4ac slowly creeping up.

It was very distressing last year with the 4a-c & really really bad clutch... the worst part was that up the big hills i was in second gear about 1/4 throttle (Couldn't use any more else it would start slipping) & trucks were overtaking me!!! doing 150 coming back down to catch up was fun though...

Time to start finalising your room sharing. Just postup inhere, or offer to share with someone at random. From memory the motel does have after hours checkin via credit card but so if your not organised you can group-up at the motel on the night but Im sure no one wants to risk not having a room or whatnot...
Everyone got their CBs?

Yeah we're a pretty scary bunch of people.
Our road rage tolerance, nice smooth roads, well cultured and mannered people all seems too scary
What's scarier is our water is drinkable from the tap.
You'd think that'll be standard for the rest of the world but after venturing to Sdney apparently it's not.

lol? omfgwtfbbqhi2u!?
I mean, this is extremely easy for you to say. COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO LIVES IN FRICHEN MELBOURNE!
I'm no rich boy (hence the sprinter ) nor am I an accountant, but I think, just maybe, that it would cost me more money to come down to Melbourne, than you drive an hour or two max to meet us there. Plus accomodation, plus food. And if I go I would have to bring my gf along, and that would almost double the expenses as she wants to shop.
Yeh, the people who bailed out like me have no excuse for dogging it, especially when they said they go in the first place! But what can you do, shit happens. Everyone who bailed out has their reason. I still feel like a dickhead for not going, but I don't think you should feel that I'm a dickhead also
I don't mean to be a keyboard warrior and/or attack you in this thread, but I just fail to see how you can be in a situation to judge us Shitney boyzzz.
Perhaps next year we should have it in Alice Springs, to see who really is a committed ae86'er. I wouldn't go, but there would leave plenty of more people for you to be disgusted about!
0.02c (in my situation I shouldn't even be spending 2 cents!)

Good idea... let's hold the meet in hick country town where there is nothing to go to. The whole point of the melbourne meet is for the final drift meet of the year where some of the interstate and local ae86's enter the final comp and we can support them.
Perhaps disgusted was the wrong word... It's BAD FORM to say you are comming then bail
unless your car has blown up or been stolen there are NO excuses for doing such...
If you're going to bail cause your poor, don't say your going to come... it's not like this was sprung on you... the list was produced back in SEPTEMBER

Like i said to you in the other forum Shiri, dont judge until you have to do it yourself.
Unlike you some of us have jobs that have to meet Budget by year end, so while i said I would come, and applied to take leave, and that leave was approved, the financial income over the last 2 months has not been great, so we will be running all hands on deck until the 25th of december.
People have their reasons, shiri. Just leave it at that and be happy with those that do make the trip
People shouldnt have to justify themselves to the likes of you.
And where were you when Henn made the treck up here for round 4? I didnt see you on the hill cheering him on as well as myself, Indi, John, and about half a dozen other hachi drivers.

Hahaha this had me ROFL.
As someone trying to get things together its abit of a letdown when people say im in forsure, then pullout. But I totally understand people pulling out if there are serious money issues or some other serios issue. Which has been the case in most peoples outs so far!
I think Shiri was just calling people softys for pulling out because they cant be stuffed! And frankly I agree.. but that doesnt apply to anyone sofar... Its a fair call though.
But that said... Shiri you better be rounding up the masses down there Ive heard that Melbourne has close to 50 dedicated hachi owners and yet last year there were only 15 or so cars there! Compared to like 12 (NSW) and 10 (SA) who had to drive 1000km+
There was talk of holding this years meet in Brisbane but it got canned due to the obvious fact no one would come from Melbourne
