Wow could be worse of a fright, could have been working under it hehe.
The whole airjack systems. How much extra weight would thye add to the car?
[/quote]
Not much weight and it is down low. Just the pressure of the air hose pressures the stand down, then a metal sleeve is put around each one to prevent the car dropping unintentionally.
I just went to have a look through my photos, but there are a lot there so I looked in the first packet only. First pic was the GTR on the back of the tow truck! The driver called me an arsehole..
I don't have a scanner though...

I have a set that is 6 videos (DVD set was sold out), it has all the years of bathurst and the early phillip island races up to 2001 or 2002. Basically it has the highlights of every bathurst race maybe 20-30 mins of each race depending on how good they were.

It was a present well I told them i wanted it and yeah I guess its worth the money especially when most of the stuff I wasn't alive for or just too young to remember a lot of. It's entertaining and you don't necessarily have to get the whole set.
You can by certain era's ie turbulent years (mid to late 80 to early 90's) out of the series but they are 30 bucks a tape/DVD vs 90 odd bucks for the 6 tape series.
I enjoyed watching it especially the early days which i had only really heard of or seen small snippets of.

Fuck have to ask the hard questions don't you, to be honest NFI it'd be 2 years since i have watched most of them only recently watched one would be the turbo one and that'd be six months to a years.
I'd say there would be at times possibly the one from where they are talking to Gardener i think then he puts it into the wall.
What exactly are you after i might pull and out and have a squiz next week (after my last exam on wednesday).

There is a bit.
The first car to have it was Peter Williamsons Celica (about '79?). It was a huge camera with no pan, but you see him hounding the back of Bartletts Camaro from Skyline through the Esses. Another bit has him doing a bit of commentary, and he misses a gear- you can see the tacho needle shoot very high !
The best was Neil Crompton driving Brocks M3. Brock went to the commentary booth and they were firing one liners at each other. Then Brock was giving him pointers as he drove !
You must see the in car of Glenn Seton in the Skyline in the wet in '87 (see the pics of the crashed ae86s). Great car control.

Great pics guys! The air hose is the compressed air jacks as has been answered, the Corollas ran 3 jacks rather than 4 to save weight and cost (they are REALLY expensive for what they are). There were quite a few Corollas in Gp A, although as you say many are repainted and most of the TTA ones were sold off to privateers later, some of them have done 4 Bathursts. 1 in the museum as you have found, Bob Holden still has one, John and Brad Stratton up here still have their car (which is an ex TTA car), Scott King has an ex TTA car in Syd which gets bought out for Group C/A historic events, Terry O'Beirne up here has 2, one in WA club racing which is ex Bob Holden - that is at least 7 Corolla Gp A cars left, no doubt there are others too. There was a Group C Celica which was converted to Gp A and run occasionally, parts of that car still exist but I don't know how much. My Supra still exists, as do at least 2 of the MA70's, so that is 10-11 of the Toyota Gp A cars still around.

Group A died because it required manufacturer support to homologate parts for the cars. That support existed in the early days, but once everyone started exploiting the turbo rules (only penalised 1.4 times the engine capacity for a turbo to start off with, later 1.7, and unlimited intercooler size) you could basically only win with a turbo. As no-one was selling too many turbo cars as standard road cars except Nissan (and to a much lesser extent Ford in Europe) the manufacturers withdrew their support, and it died. The M3s and Commodores etc did have their wins in the later days (88-92), but few and far between in the end, Sierras, GTS-Rs and GTRs ruled, and apart from the 100 R32 GTRs that Nissan bought in you couldn't buy them in Australia, you couldn't even buy the M3 here till much later.
I have some original TTA publicity shots of the 1988 TTA cars, I need a volunteer to put them somewhere where they can be viewed though, send me a PM. All black and white sorry.

Got dropped as the GTR was pwning the locals too hard. And the bogans created an up roar over the 1992 Bathurst when Skaife and Lowndes won after they carshed in the red flagged rain marred race .

The 1992 GTR's was Skaife & Richards, cmon, remember? Thats when Richo called the crowd a pack or arseholes.
Lowndes came into touring cars a few years later i believe, well 1996 i think it was actually caus he won the championship in his debut year! legend.
