Hi,
Z-cars, specifically the 240Z are hot because they have a great shape and are now classics. The 260Z is nice, but the 240Z is better. Anything after the 260Z is bloated and unattractive.
Now, as far as Sprinters are concerned, the old one are the best looking by a country mile.
Check out this lovely old TE27 Sprinter Treuno....

http://www.zipworld.com.au/~river/appics/Dsc00609. jpg
No offence, but comparing that old Sprinter to the later is like comparing the RA28 to the RA40. The old one oozes class. And, I'd take that TE27 Sprinter anyday over a 240Z, or any later model Sprinter

Hehehehe, maybe you are. But, when your old and aged and talk fondly of the rare classic '86 Sprinter and show pics of it, don't despair whem some young 'un says "Man, they're ugly!"
In regards to the 240Z, I know a guy who had one and looked after it like it was the Holy Grail and it was a beautiful machine and in perfect condition. I guess it does come down to how hard you thrash it. Speaking of thrashing, I wonder how many Sprinters will be around in the years to come seeing as just about everyone says they thrash the arse of their car. I can't see a long, illustrious future for them if they're all treated that way.

I don't mine the sprinters but I'm starting to get really put off by all this talk about them. yes they are very over rated you may as well call them toyotas "commonwhore" there that over rated!
now that is very sad
|
GO MICK i love it how he throws a spin on everything and pisses everyone off and gets bagged good on u mick...
Yes i agree tho there are many dirft wannabe's and they love the sprinter.. they don't overly impressive there is nothing about them that makes them stand out much.. they might be a perfect balance, thats excellent, but VERY overpriced, and most people that want them only buy them so they look like the drift and end up crsahing them on there drift sessions when it rains personally the MA61 is a better car everything hte sprinter has plus more

sprinters are for kids... (except the big ones who have money and make something awesome out of them...)
I totally agree with river... 240z is hot, lighter than the 260z... 280zx, well i dunno what the hell they were smoking at the time, but it didn't make a better car.

You do need an appreciation of classic cars to like them, that is true. As for hachis not sticking around.. with people like garth around theres hope I plan to buy a 2nd one sometime soon. So thats 2 that will be taken care of.

Yes they do. Unless like river's mate, you've kept it like it was the holy grail - and this is an extreme rarity. At one stage they were cheap second-hand sports cars, and you know the type of drivers cheap sporty cars attract. .
I'm willing to gamble that my experience with Z-cars >> yours. They rust like fury. Like it's a personal mission for each and every car to disintergrate into a pile of iron oxide dust. Like rust was a key specification when building the car. Frame rails rust, doors rust, rear quarter panels rust, sills rust, bonnets rust, firewalls rust, hatches rust, roofs rust, under the rear quarter windows rusts. The motors are great and last for ages but the body lets them down all the time. Sprinter rust is f**k all compared to Datsun rusting abilities. Perhaps it's because the majority of Z's were transported on open deck carriers from Japan and never properly cleaned. Perhaps it's some shitty design elements that trap water in pockets and don't drain properly. Nevertheless even a hardened old Datto Z car lover (like myself) will tell you these cars rust like hell and have a number of niggling, annoying problems that require a lot of maintainence. They are not suited for a daily driver, even a weekly driver. Maybe once a month, on a dry sunny day, then kept in an airconditioned shed for the rest of their lives.
But hey, what do I know? Go and buy one and find out for yourself.
Those old sprinters rock! Go the little fast back corollas like KE25 and TE27s!

Yeah? Then why has the one at Al Palmers have "Sprinter" badging on the front fender? On the rear it has "Treuno".
So, either Al has got it wrong and has imported something that has been modified, which I doubt 'cos he seems to know his Toyotas, or you may be mistaken?

Hi,
Ahh, okay.
Now I'm confused, 'cos my knowledge is mainly in the early Celica range. Now I'm gonna have to find info on these old Corollas 'cos they look so great.
Did the Corolla's go spastic, like the Celicas did, after 1977?
If you know any good links on the old Corollas feel free to PM me, or if you have any other enlighting info. In the itnerim, I'll be doing some searching of my own. If Al is going to sell off that green beauty for another project then I'll be dipping into my pocket to see if I can procure it. I just hope he takes his time so I can build up my cash reserves!

This is nearly a year ago, Jesus get over it!!!
It isn't my fault Intital D came out, so don't blame me for what I said. Too anyone thinking I said that for a shit stir has to realise that at the time all I read on thread after thread was.
AE86 guys 1-50) What is the best cheap drift setup for my AE86 Sprinter
AE86 guys 51-10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 0000?)
OK that is an over estimate more like 100 or something.
) I just smashed my sprinter doing a hug arse drift in the wet
It does get rather old quick although, the problem has died down too a good level so really ,I couldn't give 2 fucks anymore about wether or not there over rated. If you want a sprinter or like them thats fine, just don't buy them because you say one in a Cartoon or something people like this ruin the Sprinters image. there was other posts I could of mentioned but It's dead.
Oh and the best Sprinter isn't a Toyota, It's one of thoese Van thingys (joking)

spastic?

pity the TE27's were not released here.
