Its easy as dude. Just pull old 4 speed out and slot 5 speed in.
But
Depending on what model it came from the shifter could be in a different location. That is the 5 speed from the '55 is more foward (is that back??) then the '70. Can't be stuffed doing a search (have a look in the tech section). But from what i understand the shifter will still poke up through the hole in transmission tunnel.

Yup, the shifter seems to be in the same possition, well kinda. might need to cut the hole to one side I think. What else is worth taking out of the ke70 to put on my ke55 coupe? I have a complete ke70 body with good straight panels and doors ready to hock off..... Anyone in need?

Instead of posting a new thread, thought I would add this here:
Anyone know of any decent sites with info on KE30's, I have searched and only really found Johnys site. Which was helpful.
Anyone got any good pics or own one?
Anyone know if any AE86 parts are interchangable, like diff, brakes etc?
I just bought one for my GF, 2dr sedan resprayed silver pearl with a few mods but still a bit granny spec (venetians, side strips etc)
I'll be sure to post some pics up after Ive made a few changes, and im looking for ideas.
Cheers, Sean.

Update....
Have gut the 5 speed gear box in last night, was easier than I thought it would be... Does anyone have any upgrade bits for the 4k engine lying around from an unfinished project? ie: cam,
clutch, lightened flywheel, 3k head, twin valve springs etc...
Anything would be appreciated...

It already has a 5 spd in there, quite nice ratios, would hate to have one without it!

I bought from a wrecker out at Toowoomba when the jamboree was on. And was able to have it left at my brother-in-laws folk place for a couple of weeks till a mate was able to trailer it up.
But hows this for ya. It was sitting at the wreckers for god know me mate went around to pick it up he popped the bonnet had a look grabbed some fuel and a battery, jumped behind the wheel and drove the car to me brother-in-laws place! Just a little cough and a fart.
At moment it needs rust to be cut out etc. The body mods will be limited to a bob-tail (still unsure about that), a suspension drop (not too sure how much) and rolling on either 14" or 15" rims of some type. The prefence being Minilites.
I'll be pulling the 3k and swapping in a 2T-G twin carb thats been bored and stroked. The plan is to stroke it with a 4Y crank but i'm still thinking of how far to bore it. But a 2.1 2T-G does seem to roll of the tongue easier then 1.6 2T-G.
Narrowed Hi-lux diff
Front struts either Corona, Celica or later K-series Corolla.
Brakes ???? Still sifting through the info

Its great to see a common interest here with the 2tg conversion.. I shall be starting mine after the 15th Nov, I get a few days off to make a start on it then... I will be going 2tgeu though, I think EFI is the way to go. You are all aware I will be doing the Tech article when the project starts?

KE70 front discs will fit but you will also have to use the caliper that come with this discs because they wider then use the KE30 backing plate to mount the calipers to.
Don't quote me on this but i think T-18 brakes are the same as well so you could even use them.

I've got a pair of these sitting in the shed, and a KE30 with disapointing brakes.

hi, i have a ke11 corolla and i might go to the meet if im not working. its the beige one that was for sale last week on the forum.
i used to own a ke35 back home in ireland, i had a narrowport 4age in it with a t50 shortened 2piece driveshaft and ae86 lsd/disk rear axle mounted on the leaf springs and a set of supra 14 inch rims,
i had a custom front crossmember made from half a kp61 crossmember and half an ae86 crossmember so i had the engine mounts for the 4age and the starlet steering rack, i had the lower half of the starlet steering column with the bottom bearing welded to the ke35 firewall/column bracket. the front brakes were early fwd celica callipers with bmw brake disks mounted to the kp61 front struts, i also had the front antiroll bar from the starlet on custom brackets and the rear bar from an ae86. i owned the car for nearly 5 years and it broke my heart to sell it, a 17 year old bought it with daddys money and stuffed it in to a wall!
i also have a 1987 daihatsu charmant with all the bits from a dead ae86, everything bolts in even the petrol tank! the charmant has the very same floorpan and wheelbase the trickiest part was the fuel lines and wiring in the ecu.

the "bigports" are numbered 22010 (K) and 24010 (3K).
the differrence is that normal heads have 27mm intake ports (and some have 25!!), but the bigports have 30mm diameter intake ports.
the exhaust ports are almost exactly the same between K, 3K and 4K heads of all types.. there is some variation in the indents in the exhaust port roof tho.
the benefit is that on a 4K block, the 3K head gives 10:1CR for free, and also means you can unshroud the valves with less loss of CR.
i do run a bigport head, but with very modified exhaust ports and combustion chambers. i don't think most people will benefit from runnign the larger intake ports AND if you think you do, you can hog out the normal heads intake ports to be 30mm anyway..
the main thing was that back in racing days, those in the know would get the bigport and then takt that pit a few more mm than the competition could with normal heads.
bigports also have twin groove 'o-ring' valves, and they must be changed to single groove ones to run higher lift...
money spinner? they are worth what someone pays for it... $20? $50? $500? more like $50-100 if someone is willing to pay.
thing is tho, if ppl can afford it, they usualy aren't modifying K motors

would you like to substantiate this claim please?
to my knowledge, the 4K block cannot be bored from 75mm to 80.5mm, as needed for 1.5L.
and high cam? what do you mean by that?

I just finished my 2tg/ke55 conversion. Quite happy with it. What would you guys say a respectable 0-100kph time would be for a '55 with a 2tg is? Standard eng with carbs?

I've been unable to do anything on me ke25 in the way of rust repairs etc so instead i've been moding the gauge cluster with ta22 gauges.
Doesn't look half bad if i do say myself.
I'm planning on putting the fuel and watertemp gauges where the radio is.
The steering wheel is from my AE82 twinky . The only prob with the wheel is that it sits further from the dash then the standard wheel.

Yeah. But i'm in two minds of either get one from the wreckers or get it re-skinned. But doing that is a long way off yet.

I have an AE, but not an 86 sprinter, its a 71 corolla
If I told you it was a KE70, with a 4AG conversion, would you notice, and can I then be a part of this thread??!

Its broken I can't find a straight replacement here in canberra. I'm looking for a plastic one from an AE71 sedan, but they're all busted from front end smashes!

Have any of you guys bought the Adjustable strut top mount for a KE20 series from Noltec?
Was the stud pattern correct?
I went today and I got a pair of these for my KE25 only to find that they were out by about 6mm (from stud to stud). On the box it says that they use the same parts for the KE30 series aswell and I am pretty sure that KE30's are different to the KE20 strut tops. I think they may have assumed that they would be the same parts.
Anyway I am taking a standard '20 strut top to them tomorrow so that they can make a correct fitment.
Just make sure you measure what you have before you purchase anything.
PS I am not trying to give Noltec a bad rep and I am very happy with the help that they gave me today.
