I'm sure he's better off, I know I wouldn't like to die on a machine. Least he's not going to be in pain anymore. Rest in peace Possum, and my condolences to all his family and friends.

I know in his position I would've wanted the life support turned off.... judging by the description of the injuries, and the fact he was on life support, the chances are life wouldn't be worth living after that

i've just been reading on other forums and their saying that he's not dead yet. They have switched the support off to see what his chances are.
Heres what i've been reading...
http://board.performanceforums.com/forums/showthre ad.php?s=&threadid=67149917&pagenumber=2
Read 'towies' responces from half way down the page.
In any event my sympathy goes towards him and his family and many friends.
Whatever happens its a sad day for the world around.

The extent of his head injuries are such that his chances of survival or returning to a normal functional status are remote. Again without knowing details, it is very hard to comment.
What the intensivists at Dunedin Hospital are doing is known as 'withdrawl of therapy'. Such manouevres are generally undertaken not to see how the patient will do, but more as a compassionate way of 'backing out' and allowing nature to take its course.
Either way, it sounds very grim.

I wish his family and friends the very best through these difficult times.
Whatever the outcome, I hope that it is for the best for all concerned.
The rally world is forever changed by the stamp that he has placed on it, all in the spirit of competition.
Long live Possum.
