18RG into RA60

I know RA63s had 18RGEUs in them standard, but will an earlier carby one fit in a 21RC powered RA60. I've heard that since 18RGs came in so many cars, they can have different sumps etc. Been offered a carb 18RG which currently resides in a rusty early 70s Corona, which has been rebuilt but apparently they had issues getting the timing right.
Any thoughts?

im not entirely sure how you would go for engineering considering the motor is older than the one it would be replacing. But worth a shot to ask an engineer

You can't put an engine in that's older than the car.

You could get a late-model 18R-GEU and chuck a pair of carbs on it if you really want to (the manifolds are interchangeable). Seems like a backwards step though; fuel injection rules!

Why can't you put that engine into the car?
Is it because of the emission standards or something else?
