Just a little somethig that happened last sunday night that I think you guys might find funny.
Some dickhead decided to nick the fuel out of the little escort panel van we use for a run around at work. He started to syphon out the petrol but was having a little trouble because it was so dark in the shed, so what this brainiack do, he gets out his ciggarette lighter.
The thing was the coppers were just around the corner talking to his mates and on hearing the bang as the tyre under the petrol filler blew, they ran around the corner to find this guy rolling around the yard screaming
ah sweet sweet justice

no problems, I have good chuckle everytime I think about it.
apparently all the skin was peeling off his legs and hands. I should go up to the hospital and laugh at him in person, he'd be easy enough to find just look for a guy with no eyebrows

i've heard a few stories of when ppl are looking for the feul cap to re-feul there cars in the darkness they always use a lighter to do so...
is it jus that they're stupid or just dont realise petrol is flammable?

Every year, one or two of these guys come through our emergency department. You can pick them from the singed eyebrows and eyelashes. We had one that suffered a pretty nasty blast injury and some inhalational burns.
Not one of them struck me as a potential Rhodes scholar. I remind them that a flashlight doesn't have a naked flame and is an excellent modern light source.

One guy that I was talking to about this said he was in Yunta when some truckie, probably running on truckie drugs, used a lighter to see how much there was left in his petrol tanker, unfotunatly for him it was almost empty.

Reminds me of the Darwin awards - but it seems to common from the above posts to stand out in those awards.
Funny all the same! I bet even the cops were laughing!

The escort isn't too bad, a blown tyre, some scorched bubbled paint and some fire damage to the fuel tank.

Cheap thrills, for $3.50 you can buy 2 litres of petrol and a lighter. For all his effor he may as well just poured it on himself and done it right the first time.
It would be intresting to see *if* the nice police officer will return ur stolen fuel.

Sad to say, but self immolation is the most common reason for severe burns.
