Check for rust under the doors, the front guards behind the wheel and under the front window. Have a look under the car as well for rust. Major design faults with the cars is they rust from the inside out. Mud flicks up into the gaps and sits and the sills drain holes are all plugged so might be a good idea to pull them out and check inside them to see how wet they are.
I bought a RA23 almost a year ago and it was actually in pretty good condition, only major rust was in the sill under the door to the rear guard and in the bottom of the boot on the passenger side.
I own 3 RA23's and over all they are a good car, you just have to know what your buying.

Yup you should be looking for a 1G-GTE
Seriously, any car this age will have problems with rust. There are still a fair few around with good bodies. Just don't expect to find a mint one at bargain prices.
Mechanically they are pretty cheap to fix, just look for a good rust free straight shell and you will be laughing.
