Mate If I had an early 70's japanese soft top car (most likely a conversion - did they ever make these from the factory ?),
I'd be scared to drive it on the freeway as well, "hotted up" cars around or not !

Damn I missed it.
Was she scared of all the ricers or something? Lots of loud simultaneous farting noises would scare me too.
Anyways, I saw a convertible celica a couple of months ago at the tafe. IIRC it was a yellow one.

I have seen a couple of convertible TA22's in Hobart. there is a red dirty looking one that i have seen at the wrest point casino a couple of times and there was a nice looking yellow one that i have seen once in the city, don't know if that one is local or not but it looked alright with the roof down.

Jezz thinking about it now, a TA22 would flex something shocking without a roof.

Yeah, dont knock the Fords. At least they are doing something about making the Falcon look better, handle better, and have decent engines. What have Holden done? Zilch...

Holden has a new six coming...but they are staying with the Gen3 for the moment af far as the 8's are concerned.
Ford has a brand new 4l twin-cam six cylinder. Base model Falcons will have 190kW...sweet, they might actually respond to a rev too. They have a turbocharged version of that for the XR6. Ford also has a new quad-cam 5.4l V8. They have a single cam version too. They'll have some decent power numbers.
They aren't going to be spankign all of you out there...but it looks like Ford's out to do some HSV munching. They already have the better handling package...

yeah, i saw it... It also seemed like a joke to me... Personally i have to say GO THE HOLDENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like at Canberra... Mark Skaife is a sik cunt... HRT won't be beaten... Mind you, Lowndes is catching up... I think that Holden should do a turbocharged version of the Monaro... That would make it a bit different form the other taxi's...

For someone whos dad worked at Fords geelong plant for 15 years of his life - im glad to say fords back in the hunt -
190KW fortes - yeaha bog sdtocker falcoms with some balls
220 odd Kw Xr6's - YUM - a 4 litre straight six with upped boost - mate - that thing would hammer - GTR's and supras have 400 + hp coming from straight 3 litres - and even the VL turbotwats have big HP's coming from their 3 litres 6's - add more cubes - a snail - and we have a tuners delight .. Least the XR's actually handle - not like the commodores
5.4 litre 260kw XR8's and Ts50's baseline - Hmm - Clubsports have what - 255kw from a larger older limited LS1 ?
that same motors in the new retro GT40's - supercharged - and its a monster of a block - can someone here say FALCON GTHO ???
rumopurs are of a 4 paw version of GT floating around broadmeadows with a supercharged 5.4 in the making ..
Just thought id fuel the fires a little - i love my fords as much as i love my Toymotas

there was one for sale around my area a while ago. it was by my old work so i saw it a couple of times, but it was pretty beat up and still had a fat ass half cage.
somewhere down the track this is something i have thought about but reinforcing it structurally without making it look crap would be hard. also gettin the soft top made up and not looking stupid would be hard, tho at least you don't have door pillars to worry about

Ben...
As much as I'd hate to say it.... If Lownds wins the next round you can basically Kiss HRT goodbye this series. .
With the amount of stuff ups of later races I already am not counting on anything big for them now. With all of the new Non testing rules it is hard for them to test new equipment and such and work out the bugs...
As for the Turbocharged Monaro.... I don't think they are developing those for racing??? I may be wrong tho.
anyway just my 2c.

they weren't a factory option but 'apparently' toyota sold kits so they could be done aftermarket. the two i know of in NZ both have some serious chassis bracing, and look quite nice when in good condition. look heaps better with the roof down though.
cheers
