Ok does anyone have any pics and info on the 2 Different 2T heads (Yes 2T, NOT 2T-G) Rolling Eyes

I used to have a pic showing the differences in the ports but do you think I can find it Sad

Also does anyone know for sure when the design changed ? Pretty sure it was April 1973 but I need to check it out more when I have my manuals handy.

Thanks.

Now Im confused. I thought that early 2T's differs from later 2T and 3T heads. Toyota gives same part number for both 2T and 3T head (11101-29229 and substitute 11101-29228), so I dont think that theres differences. Of course 3T-C has drilled out EGR slots (11101-29278 and subs. 11101-29279). And 2T-B with higher CR (11101-29355 and subs. 11101-29356).

Rod, friend of mine have early 2T but it might be hard to persuade him to take intake (and exhaust?) manifold off cos it's daily driven. I faintly remember that I measured about 2 years ago that valves were something like 1mm smaller but I might be BS:ing so take that as a gospel till someone confirms this.

The head on my 73 Celica (manufactured in Dec 72) looks like this :

http://www.vncommodore.com/images/stuff/2thead.jpg

The port sizes are somewhat interesting.
If you look closely at the photo, there is like a 45 degree "cut" on the outside of the head.

Therefore, externally size port diameter is 37mm
BUT
Internally its 32mm

I have a 2TB head out in the shed somewhere which I'll dig up at some stage and do the same with.

my old head had that same 45 degree cut ( out of a 71 model )

2tb one was a little different when i looked at it - and id wondered if it had been further machined

Getting interesting!
I measured my ports, intake port internally 31mm, externally horizontal 34mm and vertical 35mm, so its oval. Intake manifold horizontally 28mm and vertically 29mm, oval too. I get these measurements no matter how many times I measure.

All mesurement are +/- 0.2mm accurate because of all kinda cast snots.

Head is out of -80 (3T)TT-132 LB.

Classique71: can you measure your exhaust port and valve size? Mine was 25 X 31mm and normal stock valves.
