Cressida----Shocks and springs Thu, 26 June 2003 09:04 Go to next message
hello,
i'm getting a MX83 cressida (probably a Grande) in about 4 weeks and was wondering what the best shocks and springs to get.
From what i've read is that King Spirngs are the most popular, but what shocks would match these springs, and how much would the whole setup cost.
i'm not looking to slam the car on the ground or anything, just lower it a couple of inches and give a much stiffer setup.
could anyone make any recommendations?
thanks Smile

depends on how much you wanna spend.. you can buy bielstien shocks which will make it handle like a race car but costs a fair bit and wil give a very firm .. more of a stiff ride.. or you can go konis.. will handle very well but still have a nice firm ride and are adjustable but they are also predyd expencive
cheaper option would just go a set of munroe gt gas with the king springs.. will handle good for street and be a good firm ride also

If you are looking to spend under a $1000 then koni's are
definately the best option. Munroe gt gas are good for standard
height vehicles but when you bring the ride height down, they
tend to bounce around a little to much for my liking. All
lowered springs have a much heavier rating than standard and it
is best to match that with an adjustable-rebound shock absorber.
Feel free to give me a call at work and i will be more than happy
to price you up on a set of koni reds and kings. I am about to
do a major brake upgrade on a cressida if you are interested
aswell.

Phill. thanks for the offer but i'm in Melbourne.
But seeing as though your "in the know" how much would the koni shocks and a set of King springs normally sell for, all up?
And how much would your average garage charge for fitting and all that?
Thanks Smile

King springs usually sell for around the $120/pair mark for a
normal set; $145/pair for tapered coil and $200/pair for coil
over types. Koni reds are around $250/pair front and $230/pair
rear. If you are getting too many ridiculous quotes we can ship
them to you. All you need is a credit card.
