I'm thinking of putting a turbo on my 162. how would i go about it i don't really want to get a gt 4 half cut cause i need my car for work so it cant be out of action for too long.....would a bolt on turbo be any good and if so what needs to be done? what is the best to get? and how much does it cost?

the only option is getting the gt4, the standard st162 wasn't built to handle the power out put of a turbo. Best to get a GT4 out of a 90s model celica.

have a look at the thred "st162 turbo upgrade". i got my gt4 out of a gen 5 celica and am having a few problems. also (not mentioned in that thred) my wiring harness had to be pulled apart and put back together with matching plugs, as the plugs on gen 5 are not the same as on the gen 4.

It will probably take longer to turbocharge it and get it right than it would to swap the engines over.

justcallmefrank is right, u have to change the wiring harness and the computer, and u might want to put a new exaust on too.
