how will an 18rc dizzy work in an rg? Tue, 01 July 2003 07:30 Go to next message
Hi im going to look at an 18rgu tomorrow (yay!)but it has an 18rc dizzy in it.

now the 18rg had an electronic dizzy doesnt it?

would the rc dizzy work as well as an rg especially at higher revs?

is there any real disadvantage to the rc dizzy in the rg?

thanks

Daniel

the 18rg came out with a points dizzy in the begining. It then later came out with the electronic gear. so i see no reason why it should not work. But I tried to put the 18rgu electronic dizzy into an 18r-c and it didn't fit, the hole for the adjusting bolt was a bit out.

i know it works fine and all but would a 18rg points dizzy work better/differently than an 18rc one?

the 18R-C and 18R-G points dizzy's would work pretty much the same.... i have used both with the same result on my 18R-GU.

HOWEVER - the big difference is when you use electronic ignition! High RPM capability is GREATLY improved with better performance ALL ROUND for the motor. You can use the internals of an RT-142 22R-E dizzy in your 18R dizzy and a 21R-C ignitor and coil to get it all to work. Thats what i did.
