ok, I've just bought a GReddy turbo timer (30% discount, couldn't refuse). unfortunately, the manual is all in japanese. Does anyone know what all the wires are for?
the manual has some pictures which help (a switch for the handbrake?!) but I cant figure them all out.
Cheers

draven the switch for the handbrake is so that once you park it and put the handbrake on it cuts the ign if someone drops the hand brake to drive off.. theft protection

thanks for that.
common sense should have suggested it.. but too fluey to be thinking straight.
All seems *very* easy, except the speedo connection which will be annoying

wonderful
it's all installed and wired up (properly) but it doesn't work
it counts down wonderfully, but the engine doesn't keep running.
the wires are correct, because when you turn it off, and pull out the key, the instrument panel is lit up exactly for the "on" position of the key.
should I wire anyhting up differently for the microtech?

I haven't wired up the speed sensor or handbrake sensor yet, but the handbrake gives a 0v reading when it's on anyhow, so the turbo timer should simply think the handbrake is always on.
help please!

Try running 12V to the handbrake. Don't assume that 0V means that the handbrake is up or down....
Lessen learnt when hooking up the door switches during alarm installs....

I'll try it... but it's the greddy thing that says 0v should be for when the handbrake is on

the handbrake wire needs to be earthed for the timer to run

come here and lemme give you a kiss sideshow.
I knew it had to be something simple.
I'm not in the mood for going to the effort of finding my handbrake and speedo cables at the moment (as it's harder than I first imagined, even with most of the plastic interior removed), so I'm just going to run it off presers for the moment

hhmm..... I hooked it up to the chassis, but didn't make a difference.
but it really didn't like it if I changed earhitngs while in countdown.. then it totally shut everyhting off.
I'll give it a better go tomorrow in daylight

the handbrake wire is like the main earth
if its not connected to a ground the timer wont work it will turn off
its just a safety feature
but connect it to any earth and it will work

ok
the only thing i can think of that it may possibly be is the place where I spliced the wires.
I had a closer look at the diagrab, and it splices them after the key switch connector, away from the ignition barrel.
I've spliced them between the ignition barrel and the key switch connector.
all my electronics knowledge tell me that there should be no problem with this (unless that connector is hiding something inside it).
the farking thing should be working! (getting frustrated)
I think it must be the microtechs fault... the turbo timer isn't keeping the ign power going fast enough or something, and the mtech is cutting out.
