Celica Won't Start

Tonight i was driving my car, and as i went to accelerate out of a roundabout, i felt no power. My first reaction was that my friend had pulled the hand brake, but he hadn't. A few seconds later i realised that the revs were zero, so i figured i must have stalled it. I tried to start the car, and it's ticking over, and because of what happened, i'm sure it's not the starter motor. I got RACQ out, who checked my battery, oil, water, then tried injecting fuel straight into the engine, in case the fuel pump didn't work (which is what i thought was the problem, not that i know much), but that didn't work. The guy admitted that he didn't know much about celica engines though (another holden boy).
Basically what can I do, what else can i check. The RACQ guy checked the first spark plug and it was firing.
Thanks alot guys.
The car is a 1990 Toyota Celica with 5SFE Engine (same as camry)

check all the plugs dude.
then maybe the computer as it manages all fuel spark timing etc.
another thing to check is the timing chain/belt it may have snapped or slipped.
it take it to toyota to get them to trouble shoot it.
fortunately i know a guy who worked for them for 15 years.
but its no good to you unless you live in sa.

Dude,
Doesn't say much for the RACQ does it ?
I would ring them again. They should be able to tell you what is wrong. And then tow you to a Garage or Toyota dealer.
Does it turn over when you try to start it ?
Is there a potato in the Exhaust pipe ?
Good Luck

coil??? faulty plugs??? have you had any work done recently? do you have an immobiliser/kill switch? what does it do when you try to start it? can you hear a click then a tick of the starter motor? (technical i know ) did you reset the ecu? did you check all grounds? resistance of ALL leads. i could go on forever.
more info will help people to find the problem.

Okay, one of my friends has had a look at it and we have determined that it's the cam belt. How exactly do I replace this and do i just ask for a cambelt for a 5sfe? do i need any other parts? How much would a mechanic charge? Do you think i would be able to do it. Thanks alot guys

To be fair, in my car, the cam belt is covered by a protective thing. That's why i couldn't see it. Theres just a little cover you can pop off though to inspect it.....

All Toyotas with timing belts as far as I know are non-interference, they just don't run.
