The brand of oils and filters are much of a muchness! Personal preference really! You should be able to find the grade of oils in a Haynes manual! Gaps and timing you should also be able to find in the Haynes manual! If you go to autobarn or simlar, they will be able to tell you what grade oil to use!

Engine oil: probably 15-40w where they say it is for turbo or deisel use.
Oil filter: probably same as 3T and 2T motor, change it as often as you like.
Plug gap: about 1.1mm would be good for electronic ignition. Not that critical with a good coil. I have no experience with this motor.
Fuel filter: Realy, just about any efi filter should work. As long as you have the right connections to make it tight. If you want a toyota one, then order it to suit a RT144 corona or something.
Diff and gearbox oil: any GL5 should be good. About a 80/90 weight. Soemthing that says high pressure on it, for Hypoid gears, and LSD. Any GL5 would cover that.
Base timing would have to be around 10 degrees, not sure.

Hello..
I am currently running BP Corse Plus oil. NGK BP7ES spark plugs with a .8mm gap Oil filter, forget the model but it is from a 2T engine. Z89 maybe? Fuel filter is from a Nissan 300ZX Timing is 10 BTDC. There is 2 marks on the pulley, one for TDC and one for 10 BTDC. Gearbox oil I use a castrol which basically states on the bottle that it suits all toyota 5spd gearbox. Diff oil, no idea never changed mine before.
Hope this helps. Joel

I used, Pennzoil for Turbo's (cant remeber the details) NGK BP7ES with 1.1mm gap Original Toyota Oil Filter, this is a very small one, its the best out there. Made for 3S-GTE engines I think, if you want I can get you the part number. Gearbox Oil was the Castrol that Toyota uses, fixes gbox crunches, and gears go in better when cold. Used the same in the diff. But if you have a LSD you might want to get some specific oil for that, or somthing you add to the oil I had some camry fuel filter, and ran as much advance as I could without pinging.

yeah, pretty much same as you guys,
oil filter: Ryco Z89A (same as 3T-C)
Fuel filter: Ryco Z200 (as used on holdens, nothing wrong with these, nice and compact too)
gearbox oil: castrol 80/90
diff oil: if you have LSD make sure you use the right oil! check with a gearbox/diff workshop
timing: I thought the second mark on the pulley for base timing at idle was 12 degrees? I'll check this...
plugs: NGK BP7EY, you might want BP6EY if you run stock motor & boost. gap: 1.1mm
engine oil: your choice dude! I run penrite pedigree.

BP7EY is a y-grooved centre electrode
BB7ES is a standard electrode.
the difference between 6 & 7 is the heat range. 6 would be better for a standard motor/standard boost, but might cause detonation & cant take the heat on higher boost, where a 7 would be better on higher boost, but foul easier on a standard motor.
Hope that makes sense, i've just got back from the pub.
Cheers
Phil

Hi,
Sorry to ask a question here, but it seems better than starting a new thread.
Does anyone know what the compression for a 3TGTE should be ??? I've just done a compression test on a car I purchased and it came out pretty low, around 135. I'm just wondering if this is normal ?
Any help would be great
P.s. All the other info in this thread was really helpfull! Thanks everyone
