GZ20 Soarer 1G-GTEU

The first thing I did with my car was to take it out on the freeway, and I noticed an annoying chime that activates > 105km/h. Also the cruise control will only go as high as that.

Are both of these linked? And how do I get rid of them!!?

I found info on removing the cruise control limit from a z3 series soarer, but I'm not sure on whether the cruise control boxes are the same and could risk damage to the system.

Any help would be great!!

Cheers,
Chris

Chris, allan should be fixing these problems on his MA70 (digi dash) soon, give nathan a big pimp-slap and get him to give allan a yell.

RIGHTY HO

check this out
http://www.hotkey.net.au/~cheets/cruise_control.ht m

notice it shows how to remove the cruise limit on a 3 series soarer, by closing j300.

i pulled apart my 'speed control' box, and it looks like this:

http://home.iprimus.com.au/jonesmob/soarer/cc board.jpg

there doesn't seem to be any open jumpers designated with a 'j', and now i'm stuck.

as for the overspeed chime.... i think ill attack the dash and have a squiz

cheers

God damn computer chips Mad
even my car does a measly 105km\h Laughing
the chips are made so that

a)you change them the warranty is voided
b)they are an inconvenience
c)hardly any normal person can work on them
d)you have to go to the dealer to fix a problem

After nearly 12 months..... BUMP!

Still got the problem with the cruise control limiter. Seems to be common amoung the gz and mz with cruise and also the ma's too.

I've done a sh*tload of googling and forum searching over the last few months, but all I've found is other ppl with the same problem that they also haven't solved.

For MKIV supras, it seems the cruise is handled within the ECU rather than a separate module as above. Their solution has been to use an aftermarket VCC or FCC mod, which doesn't apply here. Anyone here with an mkiv that can confirm this?

I'd love to take my baby on the country road, and set the cruise at an actual 110....

Would appreciate any help/refferals or links or ANYTHING that would head me in the right direction.

Cheers all

What did you pay for it?

Plus, it'd be interesting to see the differences between the circuits on the two modules....
If you had the time...
And you could be bothered...

you reckon you could whip it out a take a nice photo of the board for me?

Very Happy

Re: Speed Limiter >105 KPH Sun, 25 July 2004 08:56 Go to previous messageGo to next message
Yeah, a bitch aint it.

I'm more interested in the electronic side of things, whether the limit is built into one of the chips or its just defined by a specific combination of caps/resistors that was removed for the aus version... it'd be nice to pull it apart and successfully rewire it for a bit of self-satisfaction Smile

Then again as Allan said, I could grab a module from a wrecker. But where's the fun in that?

Also, Allan what is that crud in the sump?

big JON:

i can't imagine the chime being 'cool', it really annoyed the hell out of me so i ripped the batstard out and took a hammer to it. damn.

if u got a digital dash i can tell ya exactly where the chime is, but anyway its probably on the back side of the dash unit, see pics. ps i am drunk. take complete disregard for legitimacy...

Two screws at the bottom will let u lift up the lower half of the dash, (it folds).
http://www.arach.net.au/~jonesmob/1.jpg

The little bugger is at the back there. Remove the dash entirely to get at it.

Cheerio
Many pleasures in the back seat of your toyota old school pimp mobile.
