The Calibra runs on the bottom of the cold mark when it's cold and the top of the cold mark when it's at normal operating temperature... Wierd but effective.. That marker is at operating normal temperature... it's not on a cold engine..

How intersting the temp gauge is in degrees celcius, inaccurate or not, methinks the car would be a little hotter than what it is.

You set the car up on stands and let the wheels free spin.
On another note, maybe he saw his petrol gauge and needed to get to the next petrol station real quick...

Would you set your car up on stands and do 250kmh in the air?
If so you sir are another crazy mofo
on that topic me and my mates do a simalar thing to cars when we go bush bashing when we pop a tyre or get hella bogged we sit in them and get them spining in the highest gear and put a brick on the accelorator and watch them blow! a corolla with a k motor sat there for 10 mins redlineing in 5th!

less of the attitude chrissssssss, have you heard of a joke?
if you wanted to you could get a calibra opel whatever to do 250 with a turbo and some mods,
you could get your mums washing machine to do 250 if you WANTED to.

Geez thanks Chris... Have you heard of a joke? Lighten up! Everything in the world is not serious! Your right a "standard" Calibra is stretching it for 250kmh... But it is rated at 225kmh... Not bad for a N/A pulling 1190kgs...
If you think that they are shit.. Then thats fine.. don't own one.. Thats your opinion.. I know that the Calibra is not liked by everyone.... But I like it ... Thats all I care about.
So please comment all you like...but before you do.. Have you ever been in one? Driven one? What information are you basing on that they are shit?
Thanks

No only the N/A 16V... The 8V is slower again... There are only rumoured to be 100 in australia of the 4WD version..

Considering if a stand dropped, there'd be 50% chance of nothing happening (unless 4WD). Plus if you're in 5th at 250km/h once a wheel touches, SOMETHING is most likely going to break.
Even if nothing broke, all you'd have is the momentum of the wheel to push it forward before the engine stalled.

I agree, upon critical analysis...
imagining the car drop, screech and then fly out of the garage or even better straight into the back wall of the garage and into the next room
is much funnier then the proposed 'reality' of the issue.
but thats just me

And at the grand sum of roughly $10k a gearbox, lets hope he shows some mechanical sympathy.

Nice one Joe !
Chriss,
So is this a Photoshop File too ???
This is the Outhouse section dude. Lighten up a bit ! And if you don't know who you are posting to... Ie Actually know them. Perhaps exercise some constraint.
I can tell Joe he drives a shitbox FWD Holden but I only live 10 minutes away so he can drive over and bitch slap me lol !
As for if it left the stands.... The sheer mass of the vehicle and it being in 5th gear means it will most likely stall the second it hits the ground
OH.. I IN NO WAY RECOMEND OR CONDONE ATEMPTING TO ACHEIVE THESE SPEEDS LET ALONE TAKE A PHOTO WHILE DOING IT.
Toymods recommends safe and responcible driving.

Whoa... Nice work Rod...
I didn't think the Pornstar would've reached that ...
I got mine to 215 about a month ago and that was scary... I don't know what I would be feeling doing those speeds in an old Celica... Everything rattling, sounding as though it's about to fall off ...

I'd say the Cali is pushing it at 250 clicks... but then the Opel badge would be another give away unless someone was "that" anal and wanted Opel badges by changing the airbag unit. I haven't changed my Holden airbag with a Vauxhall one.
Still, the Calibra is still quite sleek and one of the better Opel that made it down here. Too bad not more of them were sold.

i can vouch for a ta22 2t powered celica being capable of replicating that pic of Rods - I did that once - and only once in my redbeast .. no vibrations and it sat down pretty well - but it was just plain frightening after a while ( ie 10 + seconds ) I was young and silly!
Gt4 - well - its a different kettle - Ie can quite easily romp to 200 - just how far beyond that i dont want to test out in a hurry
