If your familiar with what the gear stick and mount looks like out of the box this explanation will be of use.

Ok the gear stick has a pivot point that will get bolted into the gear box by a kind of cup (four bolts). So you have a kind of basic ball and socket arrangement.

Below this pivot point is a small section of the gear stick that generally tapers down to another ball - smaller and distinct form the pivot point. This smaller ball fits into a cup of the selectors in the gear box (they normally have a urethane clip sort of thing to hold them in the cup of the selector).

You cut off this smaller ball below the pivot point and do so right on the ball thus leaving the taper part from the pivot point.

Then you weld in an extension of say 10-15mm (open to speculation, you can have more if you want that true rally shift on the cheap) and weld the smaller ball onto this extension.

Clean up the welds and thus the distance between pivot point and selector ball has been increased.

The consequence of this is you have to make up a spacer in the shape of the cup\plate that holds it in the box.

Like this sort of thing:

That spacer looks pretty proffessional, did you make that too or are these available from shops.

There was a place in sydney/revesby that sold quick shifters for w series boxes. Dellow I think. You just needed to tell them what base plate pattern you had on the g/box eg. the pattern the gear stick plate which bolted to the box.
