The car is done, FINALLY Wed, 17 September 2003 00:12 Go to next message
Well, save for a few interior tidy-ups and a big hole where the gearshifter used to be, the car is now on the road. Let me know what you think, even if you hate it cos it's cross-breeding (as so many have criticised me for already)

The sr20 looks at home in a sprinter, even on std boost the car should go hard..

On standard boost, it went straight to limiter in both first and second, and fished gutter to gutter.

Simon - the T series should be fine. I imagine if I start to drag it (which I'm not interested in doing) then it will break, but for the sliding, it should be fine.

I'm amazed at how neat the engine has been fitted. My 4AGE conversion has a shit load more wires hanging around than that.
Looks like a hell of a sleeper with the black intercooler and lack of stickers etc. Saw this car ages ago at an SAcars cruise, did that have a GE or a GZE fitted then? either way pulled an alright skid.

truenosedan and anybody else who is interested, I have a steering wheel the same as chris's for sale. PM me if you want details, I dont want to steal this thread.

Re: The car is done, FINALLY Fri, 19 September 2003 04:50 Go to previous messageGo to next message
charliechalk - i did consider 3sgte, but the SR won out in every aspect - ease of fitment, availability of aftermarket parts (show me a good power, responsive bolt on turbo for a 3sgte) and availability of stock replacement parts. On top of all this, I was, and still am weary of the 3sgte being mounted upright.

draven - cost me next to nothing as I sourced it from my work

ae86drift - thanks mate, i try to keep my car "wank-free"

Bandit - hahaha nowhere near, but it does me just nicely

natez - the sump is no problem, I keep hearing this also, what a load of crap Laughing

krayzie - yes, look out for your finger between engine and firewall when fitting - hurts like hell

Simon - damn straight, that things quick, especially for a "cross-breed" Rolling Eyes the 1JZ AE86 is tuff too!

so let me get this a little bit clearer for myself,

the engine will just slide in (with custom mounts), no troubles with any other stuff, exhaust manifold and all that stuff

doing the swap in december, if time permits

i'm getting a S15 engine, so its a top mount intake, hoping for no troubles there, don't remember the pics but i think yours is a S13 sr so its a differant intake,

S15 motor will be nice, make radiator selection easier.
