depends if u get a brand spankin new aftermarket setup (ive been quoted over $500 for the unit) OR just go down to your local wreckers and buy one from a RA40 and put it in and get the air con specialist to hook it up.. (not sure on price as yet)
anyways if your RA40 didnt come with air con, dont stress cause Mr Toyoda the nice bloke he is kept the air con wiring in all RA40's, so all u have to do (as i did) is grab the under dash unit from a wrecked RA40 (dont forget the on/off switch) and plug it in...
as for hooking it all up, im not up to that stage as yet (i need custom hoses made) so i dunno how much it'll end up...
hope this helps

Weather is ok now. But my ra23 gets real hot in summer. Any one know how hard it is to get aircon into a ra23 ? Im pretty sure they never came with aircon.
I have all the bits from a ma45 here. So could possibly use thats aircon which has climate control
Thanks

I'm sure if i can find an air con for a ke30 corolla, you could definitely manage to find one for a celica.
Thats the wild thing about toyota that they put the loom for the air con in cars that didnt come out with them. Made the job a whole lot easier.

Aircon was available in all Celicas from the factory. I have factory air in my RA23.

Just remember that the air con we require the old gas. Make sure ou can find someone that will gas before you go ahead or you can convert over to the new gas but its going to cost extra $$$

I dunno if this'd help but i got the aricon unit from an ae86...
I'm in melb, once it's all out you can take it ;P
it's got no gas in it and i'm pretty sure it uses the old gas, but hey, free to good home (as long as you pay the postage)

On that topic, I bought as much of the crap for the air-con as I good get out of a KE70 wagon, in order to retro fit it to my KE70...I got the condensor, the gas lines, the fan unit etc etc, but didn't get the unit right in the middle, under the dash. Is this a mandatory item, or will the existing one in my (non-A/C) car bolt up to the peripheral stuff?
PS. I'm going to be using the compressor that came with the 4AGE.

Thats what i did with my air con. Used the old ke30 bits and the compressor of the 4agze. Hvaent finished it yet cos what to get new lines to run the new gas. Have no choice if I want to make the car legal
