Ae86 Diff ratio Thu, 09 October 2003 11:27 Go to next message

I have searched threads but have not come any good
and suspect it to be a 4.8 ratio standard.

Can the Guru's please confirm what the ratio is?

also what is the preferred ratio?

wow 4.8??

an aus spec sprinter comes with an S series diff.. which has a 3.9

a jap spec has a 4.3 t series diff

a jap spec is preferred for better acceleration n shorter gears

Yep, I've also had 3.7 ratios in S series diffs, supposedly from Sprinters.

They're talking about the final drive ratio. If you have a 4.1:1 ratio, that means 4.1 revolutions of the driveshaft translates to 1 revolution of the wheels.

Im guessing both of my S series centres have been 3.7

160km/h out of third gear is a joke for a very mild 4AGE

should of counted the gears when I had the centre out last week but cbf.

You can still check easily. jack the car up, rotate the wheel once, and count the number of revolutions the tailshaft does, 3.7 or 3.9?
