I voted 2.
Find anthill. Inject 20-30 mL petrol. Ignite.
Flood nest with boiling water.
Death by magnifying glass was good.
I used to make a concoction of honey and Borax (essentially Ant-Rid) and leave it just near the nest for them to feast on.

We have this problem. I always leave them be. I even wipe the bench around them and let them be. Except for when I am in a sadistic mood. Then you wipe them into the sink and turn the tap on.

I think i would make a flame thrower and burn them.
Deodorant and a lighter and it also leaves them with a nice fragrance

You say to the good looking Blonde: "The kitchen needs cleaning, the ants are starting to invade"
Now in this day of equality, I'd usually do it myself, however as she is living here rent free, I feel it's only fair while I "slave" away on other projects!!!

The easiest way is to get some ant poison... They bring it back to the nest and feed the rest (including the larvae). In a couple of days, your problem is gone.
That said, ants play an important role in the ecology of the garden. They keep the pest numbers down and also clean up the place, so you prolly shouldn't kill them. Just find out where they're coming in from and block it up. Or get a pest control dude to do a perimeter spray of your house.

we used to have ants in our kitchen. Used to be fun putting some detergent or lemon juice or something that smells strong across their marching line cause suddenly they all get lost. At one stage they had their egg nursery under the kettle. Its one with a base so it didn't move, and it musta been dry and warm enough for them to get in there. I was absolutely shocked when I lifted up the base and saw this swarming mass of jelly moving at an incredibly rapid rate, before I killed them all of course.
When they get all over the dishes I always like the boiling water

I also am a fan of number 2... you have to do it multiple times though as they usually move to a worse location

As a general rule ants have 2 entrences to a nest so make sure you know where they both are before sending to many flames down the hole.
Also ants inside is an indicator of rain comming.
I say spray the ones inside and get rid of what ever it is they are after and no more ants.
