Which colour?[ 24 vote(s) ]
1.Pearl White 6 / 25%
2.Titanium Grey 18 / 75%

Hey guys,

I've been thinking. I finally got something done on my car, and in the next month or so I'm going to have to paint the damn thing. I'd originally settled on the idea of pearl white, but since seeing a titanium grey RX8 I was in love.

What I'm basically asking is everyones opinion. Colour is such a subjective thing, so the more opinions the better. Bear in mind, my car is going to have colour coded bumpers and mirrors/handles, and it no longer has the bump strips along the side.

Well, what do you think guys?
Pearl White
Titanium Grey

Thanks,
Nathan

White.......cause it looks really good with dark tint windows. my mate has a RA60 which is "Arctic White" and dark tint it looks heaps more attractive than my silver ST-162

I hate my car colour

I voted grey. White is really hard to keep clean. Why not go for a darker gunmetal grey though? It'd look nicer IMO.

Darker colours are more likely to show up any dodginess with my bodywork. I've decided I really like that shade of grey after seeing it on an RX-8.

The interior is going to be black and red. Nice and purdy.

Go the grey.
With your rim choice and subtle highlights planned, grey is the only choice here.
I have seen that grey RX8 in Perth as well, the colour looks magic.
Cheers,
Mitch.

Actually, dark colours absorb light (or don't reflect as much), so it's harder to see contours in dark colours...

But I wouldn't call gunmetal grey dark. Smile

[Edit: This is kinda what I'm thinking of... But metallic... ]

Definatly titanium grey. The white would look pretty "tacky". It would have no depth and white is more suited to roundish cars rather than chunky ones. Titanium grey on the other hand would look astonishing and the black triming would complement it more so as well.

Hehe, Nark, I swear thats the same grey Smile

Black and darker colours are notorious for showing up imperfections in body work, thats why people want so much to spray them.

My car looks like: http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&t h=15662&start=0&rid=&S=c3b91d8d7692efd dc9692b1ad5e065cf

Re: Celica XX colour Wed, 05 November 2003 06:35 Go to previous messageGo to next message
i reckon grey cars with no contrast (ie no chrome trim strips/bumpers etc - or even a two tone arrangement like on that corolla) just turn to eye-mush. and nath, best metion to people how you have NO trim strips anymore. i think the car will just be a big blob of 'sameness'

like was mentioned above, a schmick pearl white (NOT crappy old celica stark white!), with tinted windows, and well organised/planned trim will look aweseom. its all in the planning of a colour scheme. Ever wonder why 1/2 the auto salon cars look totally gawky? cool colours but no style/plan...

theres a difference between people 'liking' a colour, and what actually looks good in a paticular application. as a colour, i love the Ti grey (and isnt Ti actually slightly yellow?), but on the ma61 minus trim bits, i think itll look very ordinary...

just my 2c!

cheers
ed

Thats why I made links to the actual colours. Methinks I'm going to have to Photochop this colour onto my car.

As for titanium itself, you're both thinking of the "titanium" used as coatings on tools, titanium itself is a really pale silver, almost white.

I did Smile Look in the first post Razz

Basically I think I should summarise what I'm looking for in the car. I don't want to be like all the old-school, deep-dish, classic style Supras going around, it doesn't appeal to me. There may be a touch of chrome to highlight a few things on the car, but predominantly I just want something that looks a bit more modern. The profile of the car is nice and while its never going to be passed off as a new car, it appeals to me, especially without the flares and the sunshade which date it (well, make it look more 80's which it is Laughing) Even the rims I'm going to get down the track won't have huge dish.

That sort of style while I like it by itself, doesn't appeal to me personally.

Grey, cos it is a schmick colour. GMH has brought out one called Turbine Grey which is very similar, and I like it.

Then again, I like the Impulse, and Tiger !!!
