Worst fear realised

After dropping the gearbox on the celica on the weekend to fix the spigot bearing and release bearing I now find the noise is still there in my engine
It's now dawning on me that the problem is more than likly a main bearing meaning pulling the engine back out an pulling apart.
My question is whilst fixing the bearings is there anything else I should be looking at replacing in the engine?

I've put far too much money into this engine just to let it go.
but this will be my first attempt at opening an engine up.
That's what worries me
but on the up side I'll get a chance to confirm the bore and piston size etc. (somthing I've been meaning to do for a while)

I could be but I'm scared to look in case it's not.
That is what I beleive the problem to be but I'm being told otherwise now.
I'll have the box off this evening to look. Fingers crossed

If it's the gearbox, easy.
if it's the engine I't going to hurt pulling the engine out, fixing the bearings, putting the engine back in just to get 2 weeks driving out of it (prolly a week buy the time I do it) before I get my new car delivered and It comes off the road for the 1G conversion, and this 2 weeks after I put the engine in the car.
I've lost motivation at the moment.

just make sure it IS the engine before you go pulling it out, cause it could quite easily be the gearbox then you will have wasted alot of time and money.

Been there pushed that,
Funds are a little low at the moment for the 1G
If it's the G/B I've got all the bearings,
If it's the main bearings I don't thing there too expensive either.
I'm determined to solve the problem tonight (or at least get an answer)
