That thread doesn't really help, has anyone on this forum actually put 1JZ-GE cams into a 1JZ-GTE?
I am looking at upgrading the cams or adding adjustable cam gears to gain a little, or in a cam conversion, a lot more power.
However, I do not have the money to go through with a big single or better twin turbo setup.
Any ideas?

I THINK the ones to go for are the VVTi 1JZGE cams - I've got no idea about the exact details, or if they'll fit though...
However, 1JZGTE's can make more power than their standard turbo's deserve to without touching the cams anyway, in fact I doubt you'd gain a lot until you can afford some big $ bolt on parts anyway. What sort of power are you making now? and what's been done to it?

Toyota Soarer GZ20 1986
1JZ-GTE from a Chaser:
MicroTech LTX12 + Hand Controller + Air, Boost, A/F Sensors.
3" Exhaust, 3" Dump Pipe, 3" Cat
HKS Air Filter + 3" Stainless Steel Intake Pipe
Celicamad Boost Controller
Thermo Fans
Approx. 185kwrw. Have to wait till next week to see the dyno sheet.
Next that I have sitting in my room:
600*300*76 Hybrid FMIC
IC Water Spray
APEXi Muffler
It has never been tuned properly also. I will proberly get it back next week.

If the 2JZGE and GTE cams are anything to go by, there is SFA difference (something like 3 degrees advertised duration difference).
2JZGE VVTi cams actually have LESS lift (approx 6mm vs. 8.3mm.).
I can't comment specifically on the 1JZ but....

So everywhere and everyone I've spoken to so far has said that the 1JZ-GE cams fit the 1JZ-GTE cams, but no one was exactly sure, or had done it before, and no one knows the results!

I doubt it's worth the effort. People occasionally do a similar thing with 7M's, but the improvement is invariably far from impressive. I think it's a safe bet the 1JZ will be much the same, and GT's advice above is further proof.
The stock turbos are always going to be the bottleneck anyway; once they've reached their flow limit, that's it - you're not going to make any more power, no matter how big your cams are!

Fit the new cooler, along with one of those separated dump pipes off of the turbo, tune it carefully, and you should net yourself a handy increase.

rob_RA40, that thread has nothing to do with what I was asking. That was a quote and question from 1JZracing.
What I want to know is has anyone put 1JZ-GE cams into a 1JZ-GTE, and has it made a greater difference.
So far I hear that they can be put in, but no one has done this, or seen it done.
Thanks.
