Motors For RA28 Sun, 09 November 2003 07:42 Go to next message
wondering if anyone could tell me bout some motors which bolt straight in and are little trouble, also about getting rego in NSW. Imagine i put a 1ggte or a 7mgte in what would i have to do to get rego? ie brakes/driveline.
Any information would be great.
Prices are also nice.
thanks heaps guys.

1G-GTE is the best bang for your buck. The specifics have been discussed in detail on this forum, so use the search facility and you'll find more info than you can poke a stick at. Smile

Agree with Norbie here.
If you want the least hassle with rego and the least bang for buck, fit an 18RG. Otherwise go for 1G-GE, GTE, GZE or 1JZ-GE or GTE.
Cheers,
Mitch.

JZ engines may be a tad too heavy for a ra28...would really stuff up the weight distribution

1JZ is only 20kg more than a 1G-GTE

move the 10kg battery to the boot and your half way there...

Actually you're probably most of the way there. You're removing 10kg from the front and placing 10kg at the back, its the same effect on the distribution as removing 20kg from the front.

is it hard to change the location of the battery?? i guess you could just run wires....neg and pos to the bay from the boot.
am i correct of is there a better way of doing it?
i want a 1ggte to go in. i rate them and apparently they are alittle easier than the 1j.

Or you could put a 1G in there and then move the battery to the back.

I always hear that a 1JZ can be just as good as a 1G if you stick it in (more effort), then make even more effort getting the balance right.
The thing they neglect to mention is that if you can do something to a car with a 1JZ, then you can do it to one with a 1G.
