Let me have a think about it. I need to confirm that the oil in my intake is coming from the PCV before I know for sure that I need a catch-can. I suspect its coming from somewhere else...

I think to be legal you have to do something with the vapour so that it doesnt just go into the atmosphere... the other one is to vent it back into the intake. So the can just filters out all the crud. People often fit a filter to this, looks like a mini air pod...

yeah i know what your talking about but it looks as tho in the pic there is already something on top of the can for the filter, the fittings on the side look the same. plus ive seen pics where they have 2 hoses going to the can and still a vent on the top, thats why i asked cause im confused. unless there are two ventilation points on some engines.

As I see it, the can has:
an inlet
an outlet
a drain plug (red)
a guage that connects at both the top and bottom of the can.
Isn't that what you would expect?

ok thats fine, i had a closer look and what i thought was something else at the top is actually a shadow but none the less of both of those two blue fittings i dont believe one is for recirculation into the inlet or to just put a filter on, i reckon there might be another lug on top.
EITHER WAY, some catch cans i have seen have a filter on top (which could be removed and a hose fitted joining it to the inlet) AND two more fittings. thats why i am confused
