For an old school recond engine: 2000rpm for the first 1000Km, then progressively more as the engine wears in. I'd not bother going past 6000-6500rpm once bedded in, most enginesdon't make power past 6000sh unless paid attention too, during the build. That said, you'll probably be able to rev it to 7000-7500 without damage or worry, but will be faster if you change gears at maximum torque (back around 6000rpm).

we use to take the grp C corolla to 8000 but thats with corillo rods and forge pistons as the std rods were not up to the task also it was at 8000 rpm going down conrod straight

on a engine dyno it basically has no load though ..

7k was the maximum it went to on the road .. and it wasnt making any more power by then

rev range was always between 4-6K where it had guts to get up - otherwise it was just noise.

If I'm driving hard I've taken mine to 5500, but I'm abit too protective to take it more, although it certainly feels like its got more. 6500 Is what the Tacho reckons it is though.

I just had my standard 2tgeu dyno'd recently and it was valve bouncing at 6300. I think its getting a bit tired now. It still hit 60rwkw once we put 3 more degrees of timing into it. Classique71 had it right the chunk of power is between 4-6300. Standard spec is max power 6400.therefore you don't need to go any further. btw CLG max torque is just above 3k no way near 6. i think you were thinking about power
