W55-58 clutch release bearing Tue, 02 December 2003 09:33 Go to next message
On the W55-58 gearboxes, is the clutch release bearing on a separate bearing carrier, or does the bearing run straight on the nose cone that bolts to the gearbox face?

Thanks Smile

Phil

Um, I seem to remember the sprinter one was similar/the same. I went through the dellow experience, & the one I eventually made them give me was exactly the same dimensions as the old sprinter one (in length & I'm 99% sure in ID).
Only difference of course was the mating points for the dellow clutch fork which you had to use, so buying both of them added a nice $130 or so on top of the price of the bellhousing, but anyway.....

EDIT: Infact I could measure up a sprinter one if you needed, I've still got one stashed away somewhere. I wouldn't be suprised if a W50 was similar too, I read somewhere that "all" toyota RWD boxes have the same length bellhousings/input shaft, & I know the T50 & W55 do, so the shaft the hub slides on would be the same length, & then so would the hubs. Only thing to check is the ID.

Thanks mate, i'll check it out. I think I may have one around somewhere. I reckon you'd be right about the length, just need to check the ID

Sounds like a typical dellows experience!

OK, here's the deal.

Sprinter is 33mm ID

Supra W55 is 35mm ID

Celica W50 is also 35mm ID, so now I have one! Smile

Thanks for the offer to measure one up. Fortunately my neighbour had a W50 sitting around, and I found one of my old T50 ones too.
