Interested for sure Brad,
What sort of dollars do you think they would come in for
And will they be for road use "complianced" or race only imports.
Left a message for you but no return call
give us a call to discuss when you get a chance

I am curious, what is the actual LEGALITY that stops there machines from being imported and complied.
Something to do with our shitty domestic Lexus IS200?????
I am sure we can all put our heads together and find a loophole.

The only way this type of car would be allowed into Australia, would be by private import after proving ownership for the previous four years, or as race only specials (there was one running in the Bathurst 24hr race the other weekend). As mentioned earlier, this is due to the fact we are supplied with the IS200 in Australia, and is designed to protect Luxes Australia from people importing cars and onselling at a reduced price to the IS200 price. Shame though, I'd seriously consider one if they were available!

Grrrrrrr. totally different specs though, understandable if same specs or better...
Screw Lexus Australia, as I personally consider they are screwing use by denying BEAMS 3sge.
So much reputation and price, so has to be good, must research into what makes them so good.

Couldn't you just get one of the Lexus built ones, and chuck the RS200 engine and tranny in it from import? Or are they significantly different in other ways?

i was under the impression that the new rule change would allow these in.
reason being that there are some cars that even though they were released here, if they have a different spec in Japan, from an motorsport enthusiast point of view, you were allowed to import the different spec model.
i didn't think it actually had to be raced here...
could be wrong, any proper documentation would be helpful...

ive seen a couple of S15 silvia's, not 200sx, which would make them an import, unless someone just rebadged them. but ive seen a few so ireckon at least one would be legit.

The s15's are a funny deal.
From what I've gathered, Nissan Japan was selling them for 15 months before Nissan Australia, so any built between that time are eligible for import.
The rules are really hard for an ordinary person to understand now, there are things about specialist publications, power/weight or fuel economy, etc.
