JGTC cars are much like V8 Supercars - they're not even vaguely a production car, despite pretending to look like one. I guess you could ship a full-on JGTC car over here if you really wanted to, but it would cost squillions and you'd have no hope of getting it registered.
No idea if a V8 MA70 was ever built, but I've never heard of such a thing - only the 7M powered Group A monsters.

Was expecting your post earlyer, thought your ears would've pricked pu at the JGTC mention.
I was just thinking if they made JZA80 V8s, they might've done the same thing a few years ago with the MA70s.
If they can get 500+ps out of a N/A 3UZ I wonder what they can get out of a 1UZ.
I think thats one thing I'll have to do if I visit my brother in Japan, go to a JGTC race.

I have seen a ma70 track car with a 350 chev in it. It was pretty quick, couldn't keep up with the little Fiat with 560rwhp though!

They only started using the V8's recently. As far as I can tell, the MA70's stuck with the 7M and the earlier JZA80 ones used a 3SGTE.

Yeah Simon was at Dubbo, he came in his orange RA28 Celica (you may recall the bloke with the wheel that self-destructed rather spectacularly). His Supra has been running for a while now, but last time I spoke to him he was still having a few electrical dramas, mostly to do with the auto.

On friday I'll get my ADSL connection, so I'll start FTPing more stuff up to my site. At the moment its a bit bare.
http://www.vss.com.au/supra/pics.html
If you'd like a 2.5meg video of a flyby at wakefield, gimme an email peter.watson@vss.com.au
Mods of the 1UZ:
Its in a supra! (duh )
GM Delco ECU, so no MAF sensor, and fully tuned (up to 7,300 rev limiter, could be lifted but not just yet)
Headers are standard soarer headers
Remote oil filter
Davies Craig thermo fan switched by computer
Pretty much the engine is bog standard, but with a different computer. AND fully tuned.

My older brother has a 3TGTEU in his KE20, which runs on delco. My younger brother has a 4AGE in a sprinter, which runs on delco.
I've got a 1UZFE in a Supra, that runs on delco.
I knew the guy that does the tuning pretty well, and when I told him what I wanted to do he rubbed his hands together and asked if I could put the Delco on. Of course I agreed. I knew he was a great tuner who was pedantic about getting the figures right, and getting the most power out of an engine. He's doing LS1s now and getting 250+rwkw out of the 250kw engines!
I also passed emissions first time, which doesn't happen often with aftermarket computers as the tuners don't tune it properly.
